Definition of "confirmed"

[edit]

So Ardern has become the Labour nominee unopposed and as there was nobody else in the running we know she will be their candidate. What is preventing her name from being in the confirmed section? Are we waiting for the ceremony on the 22nd for her confirmation to be confirmed again before this is changed? Kiwichris (talk) 05:48, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Kiwichris: Yes, we are. Anyway, where's the reference for that, Yarrowworks? J947 05:57, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Can I suggest that here we follow the protocol used on US elections pages which list "presumptive" candidates? For example; Trump and Clinton were listed on 2016 election articles after succeeding in the primaries (like Ardern has in Mt Albert) even though they weren't technically the candidates until their parties conventions (same again) but they were still listed as it was effectively an inevitability. Personally I think the approach taken there was a bit more proactive. What do others think? Kiwichris (talk) 06:17, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, it's after the fact now. But just for the record, the precedence that Kiwichris has cited does it for me. Schwede66 07:19, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's just been annouced Julie Anne Genter is the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand candidate. It's on her facebook feed but there should be a more reliable source coming.Ajf773 (talk) 07:43, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
