this looks like a typical (fatal) automobile accident - why is it noteworthy?

[edit]

Why is there an article on this? I vote for deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.169.47.12 (talk) 01:40, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Eight people were killed and two of the drivers have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Jim Michael (talk) 23:40, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, the number of deaths makes it a significant event, as thankfully this kind of incident is rare. This is Paul (talk) 00:12, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How so? Many traffic accidents have more deaths than 8, yet no Wiki article exists for them. Again, what makes this noteworthy as far as an encyclopedia is concerned? 104.169.47.12 (talk) 02:14, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not many have that high a death toll in Europe. They'll likely be a trial. This is a major event which likely could and should have been prevented. Jim Michael (talk) 09:10, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also it's unusual for two separate motorists to be charged with dangerous driving in relation to the same incident. This is Paul (talk) 13:00, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, very unusual. This is probably the UK's most notable road accident of this year. Jim Michael (talk) 21:50, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
