This article would benefit from a brief explanation of the context of vigilantism in the name of "cow protection". Is it a political movement, a religious movement, an animal rights movement, a land-ownership, or land-use movement, a form of social discrimination or an anti-farming movement. An important aspect of the story is not explained in the article as it appears to be assumed knowledge by the contributors. Among other things, the article should briefly explain, or refer to, the agricultural and legal context in which dairying and is carried out in this part of India, why permits are needed and what enforcement there is of the rules regarding animal farming and animal slaughter, and to what extent this is permitted. The wider context and trends in of this sort of violence also needs to be explained or at least referred to in the article, not just as a "See also" link. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:40, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There are several dates given in this article that seem inconsistent and the timeline needs to be explained better. The body of the text says the event occurred on 1 April 2017, while the info-box gives 5 April 2017, based on a news report. So I am confused. When did this event happen? When was it reported in the news? Also, when were the notices issued by the Court? These appear to have been issued on 7 April 2017, after the event, so are a reaction, not a background to the event. Additionally, when did the murdered victims die? When were arrests of the attackers made? When did they first appear in Court? When did their trial take place? When were they sentenced and when did various other people make various other statements they are alleged to have made, withdrawn, denied saying, rephrased and restated, etc. An event like this has a causal sequence, which should be articulated so the reader can understand what caused each event mentioned to happen. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 00:21, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
