- ... that AFC Wimbledon were promoted for a sixth time since their formation in 2002 when they won the 2016 Football League Two play-off Final?
- ALT1:... that AFC Wimbledon were promoted for a sixth time since their formation in fourteen years when they won the 2016 Football League Two play-off Final?

- The article went from 797 characters to 8,144 by my count and it appears to be well-formatted and well-written, and the QPQ review has been completed. The blurbs are interesting enough, but I don't love the grammar of ALT1; did you mean to write that blurb as "for a sixth time in fourteen years"? Unfortunately, I can't give a check mark yet because the first paragraph of the background section is completely unreferenced. The supplemental guidelines call for at least one cite per paragraph, which should just about be sufficient for the one in question if the right source can be found. Consider it a pre-GAN cleanup, since a future GA reviewer is likely going to bring that up. Anyway, the hook fact is supported by the source, and the others I checked (the other usage of ref 12 and refs 5 and 9) adequately backed the content with no close paraphrasing, so that paragraph is my only issue. - Giants2008 thanks for the review, the para in question was a remnant and I was supposed to have removed it. So good spot! It's now gone. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 07:37, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Much better. Everything looks good to go now. Giants2008 (Talk) 22:09, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Lead
[edit]- "The top three teams of the 2015–16 Football League Two season gained automatic promotion to League One, while the teams placed from fourth to seventh" - repetition of "teams"
- Wikilink the sole use of the term corner in the lede to the correct article
- "Wimbledon ended their following season in fifteenth place in the League One table, while Plymouth finished the next season in second place to gain automatic promotion to League One for the 2017–18 season." - same issue as above
Route to the final
[edit]- "Plymouth Argyle finished the regular 2015–16 season in fifth place in Football League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system, two places ahead of AFC Wimbledon." - repetition of "place"
- Wikilink the term fouled to the article Fouls and misconduct (association football) on the first mention
- "On 19 minutes, Matt then put Plymouth" - is the word "then" really needed here?
- Should the mention of the floodlight failure halting the second leg of the first play-off semi-final between Accrington Stanley and AFC Wimbledon be mentioned?
- Not sure it had any impact the result so not really. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 12:56, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- "The match ended 1–0 giving Plymouth a 3–2 aggregate win and progression to Wembley." - think a more formal phrase can be used in place of the text in bold
Background
[edit]- "Plymouth had won the league match at Kingsmeadow in September 2015," - 11v11 says it was August not September
- "with match highlights on Channel 5." - the wording of this text is close to the EFL source that verifies this
- Ok, reworded (although it's mostly pure factual so it's not really an issue). The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 12:56, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Summary
[edit]- Wikilink volley to the appropriate article
- "whose first action was to help win a corner for Wimbledon, from which Taylor scored with a low shot past McCormick." - shouldn't there be a mention that the goal was scored on 78 minutes as stated in the BBC Sport reference?
- Kind of implied a timeframe from saying it was Akinfenwa's first action after coming on in the 77th minute, but okay. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 12:56, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Post-match
[edit]- "The scorer of Wimbledon's second goal, Akinfenwa revealed shortly after the end of the game that he had been released by the club and that he was looking for a new club." - repetition of "club"
- "Wimbledon ended their following season in fifteenth place in the League One table, while Plymouth finished the next season in second place to gain automatic promotion to League One for the 2017–18 season." - repetiton of both "place" and "season"
- Split to two sentences as there's really no other word for "season" (apart from "campaign" really and that's usually frowned upon in these parts). But second "place" replaced with "position". The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 12:56, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
