Percentage calculations etc

[edit]
Example results calculation
Results
Choice
Votes %
Yes 750 49.64%
No 761 50.36%
Valid votes 1,511 92.81%
Invalid or blank votes 117 7.19%
Total votes 1,628 100.00%

As mentioned in the edit summary, results in referendums are usually calculated after deducting invalid and blank votes, so the for and against percentages total 100%. If my sincerity is doubted, {{Infobox referendum}} makes this calculation automatically – note that the only inputs into the example infobox on the left are the yes, no and total votes (including invalid figures) – and you get the same figures as currently in the article. Thank you for your explanation! I have to say, I find this presentation utterly confusing. E.g. because the number of votes for Yes and No adds up to the number of votes for Valid votes, I would also expect the percentages to add up, but this is not so. The Votes and % columns are out of sync, so to speak. But I see that this is not a discussion for here. sephia karta | dimmi 20:08, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you mean about adding up; for the percentages, 49.64 + 50.36 = 100%. For the vote figures 750 + 761 + 117 = 1,628. These are the figures given in the table. Do you see something else? Number 57 20:28, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
750 + 761 = 1511, but 49.64 + 50.36 != 92.81, on line three. sephia karta | dimmi 21:14, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea how 49.64 + 50.36 = 92.81... Number 57 21:25, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The first two are percentages of the total number of valid votes. The total number of valid votes percentage is of the total votes. Different figures. The Drover's Wife (talk) 01:27, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Record?

1%? Maybe it is the referendum with the lowest voter turnout in history.--Norden1990 (talk) 17:04, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
