Compensatory draft pick
[edit]This won't be confirmed for a few weeks yet, but there is the potential for one compensatory pick in 2015. The pick in question right now would be #54 and it would belong to Chicago if Kevin Hayes does not sign with the Blackhawks. Deadman137 (talk) 05:49, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Conditional 7th in Maple Leafs/Blue Jackets trade
[edit]It looks like this conditional pick will not convert, but the only source that I have found on it does not meet the accepted criteria for citation. It is probably best just to leave the trade in the conditional table until the draft list is published in June. Deadman137 (talk) 22:13, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- What was the supposed condition and source that you found, whether reliable or unreliable? -Uncleben85 (talk) 05:07, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- The condition was based on Columbus keeping D'Amigo, but again the source is not reliable enough for inclusion in an article. I may just be trying to keep a really high standard for sources but I'm not going to put something out there that isn't backed up by anything more than a message board. Deadman137 (talk) 18:44, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Conditional 7th in Jets/Sabres trade
[edit]It looks like this pick has converted but there is no confirmed source that is reliable enough to use. It is probably best to just leave this where it is on the page until the official draft order comes out in June. Deadman137 (talk) 19:28, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- What was the supposed condition and source that you found, whether reliable or unreliable? -Uncleben85 (talk) 05:05, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- The condition was based on the player signing with Buffalo, but the source is from a message board that would not be considered reliable enough to use for any kind of claim. Deadman137 (talk) 18:35, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
David Perron trade
[edit]It looks like St. Louis and Edmonton may have traded a third-round pick (Blues to Edmonton) and the Oilers may have sent their fourth-round pick the other way back in July of 2013. Currently there is no source confirming this besides the player's own note page on nhl.com. All current reports can be found in the 2014 article, the first note of the second round. Deadman137 (talk) 20:45, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
I did some more digging and I found some reliable sources that back up the claim that the third and fourth-round picks were traded, but I have also found a lot more reliable sources that say all the components of this trade were completed last year. Basically it is going to be best to just wait until the draft list comes out and we will make any necessary adjustments at that time. Deadman137 (talk) 01:35, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- What reliable sources have you found saying those picks were traded? -Uncleben85 (talk) 05:22, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
- 2015 NHL Guide and Record Book. Though like I said there are way more published sources that claim that these picks were not traded and it does seem hard to believe that every member of the media missed this information. So it's kind of a situation where doing nothing and waiting for more information (which we will have by June) is probably the best course of action. Deadman137 (talk) 18:32, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Blackhawks second-round pick
[edit]There is a possibility that Chicago has traded their compensatory second-round pick to Philadelphia in the Kimmo Timonen trade. For now I'm going to leave this as it is currently written unless a verified source can be found. Deadman137 (talk) 02:08, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
The pick in the Timonen trade was the Blackhawks original second-round pick not the compensatory pick as can be seen here. [1] Deadman137 (talk) 03:29, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Zbynek Michalek Trade
[edit]I take it the conditional third round pick isn't included on this page due to the uncertainty as to who is getting the pick? Sources: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=738676, http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=756035 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.92.200.49 (talk) 23:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- The condition was on Michalek playing for St. Louis because he was injured at the time of the trade and the Blues didn't want to give up a young asset for nothing. Once he played for the Blues the condition could not be converted and it was removed from the page. Deadman137 (talk) 16:09, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Order of remaining playoff teams
[edit]As we know the conference finalists will be given the final four selections in this year's draft. As teams get eliminated from the playoffs please only add teams that have their selection spot determined.
The following is a list in reverse order of league finish for this year's playoff teams:
- Calgary Flames
- Pittsburgh Penguins
- Winnipeg Jets
- Ottawa Senators
- Detroit Red Wings
- Minnesota Wild
- New York Islanders
- Washington Capitals
- Vancouver Canucks
- Chicago Blackhawks
- Nashville Predators
- Tampa Bay Lightning
- St. Louis Blues
- Anaheim Ducks
- Montreal Canadiens
- New York Rangers
Ex: If the Flames or Rangers were to be eliminated in the first two rounds they would pick 15th and 26th respectively. If the Flames were to make the conference finals and Pittsburgh was eliminated in the opening two rounds then the Penguins would pick 15th. If the Rangers were to make the conference finals and the Canadiens lost in either of the first two rounds then Montreal would select 26th. Deadman137 (talk) 22:05, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
Remaining teams for picks 22-26 in reverse order of finish as of May 10, 2015:
- Washington Capitals
- Vancouver Canucks
- Nashville Predators
- Tampa Bay Lightning
- St. Louis Blues
- Montreal Canadiens
- New York Rangers
Both Anaheim and Chicago have been removed from this list as both teams are conference finalists. Deadman137 (talk) 06:12, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
Oilers second-round pick to Boston
[edit]According to a report on Sportsnet by Damien Cox [2] from yesterday the Oilers may have to give the Bruins their second-round pick as compensation for signing Peter Chiarelli. The Bruins do have the option to waive the compensation, either way I'll keep an eye on this situation. If the pick is moved feel free to add it to the article with appropriate citations. Deadman137 (talk) 19:08, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
I found another article that makes this situation a lot clearer. [3] If the Bruins request compensation a second-round pick will be transferred in one of the following years 2015, 2016 or 2017 at Edmonton's choice. Deadman137 (talk) 22:51, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
According to this report [4] the Oilers have given up a second-round pick for this hiring, the year is currently unknown but it would be reasonable to assume that this would be given up sometime in the next three drafts. Deadman137 (talk) 05:24, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
Leaf's Third Round Pick to Detroit
[edit]Given Babcock is now the Leafs coach the Leafs will have to give Detroit a third round pick in one of the next 3 years drafts[5]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.228.218.208 (talk) 19:11, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- It won't be this year. [1] -Uncleben85 (talk) 15:05, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Pick #41
[edit]Most media outlets are reporting that this pick has been traded by New Jersey to Anaheim, at this point we are just waiting for confirmation about which third-round pick has been dealt in 2016. I'll keep looking for more details as they become available. Deadman137 (talk) 05:03, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
