Season extension
[edit]At first, I tagged the sentence, "Should the season extension proposal be approved, this would be the final season to be fall only, as next season would be a fall and spring season." Then, on second thought, I deleted it. Although there has been a good deal of published discussion about the proposal of a "committee of Division I coaches," to extend the NCAA soccer season from August to May, no formal presentation of this proposal has yet been made to the NCAA. It was presented to MLS with hopes that the league would give its support to the change, but it remains no more than a talking point at this time. If the proposal does eventually get presented to the NCAA, there are already indications of potentially strong opposition from several sources, including some other NCAA sports with Spring championships.
