Conflict of editions?
[edit]It seems that some people (including me) are having problems editing this (and other articles related to the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification).
The user Dr. Vicodine is constantly removing the "On the next matchday..." parts, stating that it doesn't fit WP:NOR, WP:CRYSTAL, WP:SYNTH (I think this last one doesn't make any sense in this case), while others had reverted every single edition he has made regarding these articles (I did it too).
I never saw somebody deleting it until now (I saw it on 2010 World Cup articles, 2013 African Cup, etc...), but while I don't have any problem if it doesn't fit the Wikipedia rules, what I don't understand, is that Vicodine insists on deleting the part that says "Scotland has been eliminated" and "Macedonia is unable to qualify directly".

- I don't see how this would constitute OR, it's a mere direct combination of the rules and the current situation. It is definitely relevant as well. Perhaps have the relevant rules as a reference? Or look around for a site (in any language) that details the situation and use that as a reference. I am definitely in favour of keeping the information on. This kind of information is given all the time in articles for different leagues as well. — WardMuylaert (talk) 14:01, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
- Since when can a single user delete by force useful and relevant content accepted by a whole community? It is not acceptable. 201.230.47.221 (talk) 18:45, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
- I would also dare to say this falls under WP:CALC. While not always as obvious to a non-football fan, you would definitely think someone who has been following football for a while can easily enough calculate the outcomes. The use of including it here is saving everyone the time it would take/the distraction it would be. — WardMuylaert (talk) 19:45, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
- This is not the first time that I've removed this shit. It's already been discussed a dozen times, see archive on WP:FOOTY. Most recent discussion on WP:Dispute resolution noticeboard. I'm not planning to repeat the same discussion for every frickin football competition. Dr. Vicodine (talk) 23:00, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, I had not seen that, though their citing of two weeks time seems highly irrelevant in this case and I think it's silly that non football fans (seemingly) had such a say in deciding what was relevant. I will however settle on that decision. — WardMuylaert (talk) 10:05, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, I don't have a problem with these statements. The problem would be the IPs constantly reverting your edits, should the articles be protected in order to avoid an edit war? --AndSalx95 (talk) 04:00, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Belgium is certain of playoffs?
[edit]I don't understand why the blue color of Belgium (being sure of at least play-offs) has gone away, neither do I know how to restore it. Can someone bring it back? Because Serbia can only have at max (10-7)*3+7=16 points, Wales max (10-6)*3+6=18 points which is both less than the 19 Belgium already has. Same goes for Scotland and Macedonia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.193.1.248 (talk) 11:50, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- As mentioned (and as you since asking have noticed) in Talk:2014 FIFA World Cup qualification (UEFA)#Belgium NOT guaranteed play-off spot, the second places of the other groups could still finish with more points than Belgium and only the eight best second places go to the playoffs. As for where you can edit the standings, this is done at Template:2014 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA Group A. — WardMuylaert (talk) 14:33, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- The main question is about group B, E and H.
- Group B: If Armenia Win, Italy arrive 2nd with 18pt and Czech Republic last with 12pt, Italy has 17pt in the play-off
- Group E: If Norway Win, Switzerland arrive 2nd with 20pt and Cyprus last with 4pt, Switzerland has 16pt in the play-off
- Group H: If England Win, Ukraine arrive 2nd with 21pt and Moldova last with 5pt, Ukraine has 17pt in the play-off
- So Belgium is not ensure to be in the play-off. Stigni (talk) 13:43, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Livescores
[edit]Hi
Per WP:LIVESCORES we should not add scores to matches still in play. Please wait until match is finished and then add the score. If you dont discuss here your edits will be considered disrutive and you might get warned and blocked. This has also been discussed on WT:FOOTY many times. QED237 (talk) 17:35, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
