2013 in the Palestinian territories → 2013 in the State of Palestine – This should be renamed to "2013 in the State of Palestine" per WP:COMMONNAME and the designation change of most international organizations as of 2013, including UN and ISO (current ISO code "Palestine, State of"). See exact ISO decision here [1]).Greyshark09 (talk) 16:12, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Palestine is not recognized as a state by the only state that matters, the state they are in, which is Israel. Apteva (talk) 18:40, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Isn't that circular reasoning? Israel says that Palestine is part of Israel, therefore only Israel's opinion counts, and Israel says that Palestine is part of Israel... fortunately, instead of relying on political soapboxes, we can rely on sources instead. What do independent sources call it? bobrayner (talk) 23:48, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose No debate that the subject is a state (independent and Sovereign state is a different story). That being said, the common name is still Palestinian territories, per lead article on subject and all articles in Category:Years of the 21st century in the Palestinian territories. If you're looking for a change I suggest it start there. This is not the location to resolve it.--Labattblueboy (talk) 03:29, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose Labattblueboy. The actions of the UN, ISO, Google, or whomever may be reasons to move the parent article Palestinian territories, but not this one article. --BDD (talk) 05:36, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- What do you suggest then? Everybody call it already State of Palestine (this is quiet clear i assume). We can keep the "in the Palestinian territories" for years 2012 and before, but create a new set of years for 2013 on for "in the State of Palestine". This has already been done for transition from "years in the Soviet Union" to "years in the Russian Federation".Greyshark09 (talk) 19:12, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
