Requested move 5 May 2018

The result of the move request was: it is not clear from this discussion that there is support for moving the articles, but rather than relisting, restarting discussion as a multimove request. Most of the other affected pages were not notified of this move request, and it will be easier to have this discussion starting from the status quo, which is having all of the articles at their stable titles. I've therefore reverted the moves of 2016 Supercopa Argentina and 2017 Supercopa Argentina and will refile this as a multimove. Dekimasuよ! 04:57, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
2013 Supercopa Argentina → 2014 Supercopa Argentina – Same as previous requested move for 2016 Supercopa Argentina. It's a one-off football match that takes place every year. The Wikipedia articles have the wrong years associated with them. Here: 2014's final is down as the 2013 final. R96Skinner (talk) 02:04, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

- @R96Skinner and 46.97.13.26: This seems a query between whether to obey the first 3 move requests listed here, or to obey the last move request only. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:10, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

- The year is likely not about the date the match takes place in, but about the season it concludes. See #Requests_to_revert_undiscussed_moves below. -- 46.97.13.26 (talk) 19:24, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

- These move requests would have to be obeyed in this order, and not leaving redirects:
- 2017 Supercopa Argentina → 2016 Supercopa Argentina – The previous requester might have been missing the point. The year is likely not about the date the match takes place in, but about the season it concludes. Disclaimer: i'm not argentinian, so i might be missing some local detail, therefore i think the moves shouldn't be done without further investigation. 46.97.13.26 (talk) 18:32, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
I see what the other editor is saying, however in Wikipedia terms I still back what I've already stated above. According to Wikipedia:Article titles 'deciding on an article title' section, it makes sense to call them for when the matches were played. Recognizability The title is a name or description of the subject that someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert in, the subject area will recognize. For the everyday reader, I think it's fair to assume they'd link the year to the event; rather than the season it's supposedly linked to. Precision The title unambiguously identifies the article's subject and distinguishes it from other subjects Naming the 2014 edition the 2015 edition is hardly precise, makes it very easy to confuse with other editions of the fixture. - While i see how your idea would maybe "make sense", i still think we shouldn't just use unofficial names just because they make more sense to laymen. This informal image does IMO clarify that "Supercopa Argentina 2016" is what took place in Feb 2017. Is that printed background not reason enough to use that title convention? -- 46.97.13.26 (talk) 11:33, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

No consensus. After about 25 days and two relistings (one de facto), we still don't see general agreement to grant these requested moves. I can easily see both reasonings by supporting and opposing editors, and both have relatively strong arguments. As is usual with a no-consensus outcome, another attempt can be made in a few months to garner consensus to rename these pages. Have a Great Day and Happy Publishing! – Procedural filing (I do not support or oppose the request). The match currently titled 2013 Supercopa Argentina took place in 2014, 2014 Supercopa Argentina took place in 2015, etc. Conversely, the years in the current titles are used advisedly: they are the years used by the event, signifying the seasons concluded by these matches. A previous request did not reach a consensus on which year to use in these titles. The 2012 event took place in November 2012, so it is not included in this proposal. - Support per nom, to match the years the events actually took place. GiantSnowman 15:04, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Comment it did confuse people, but how about the usage in the media, did they refer to the match that held in early 2018 as "2018 Supercopa Argentina" or "2017 Supercopa Argentina" or without year? Matthew_hk tc 12:50, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Searching I see the 2015 supercopa argentina solely referring to the 2016 event and so on, and the Argentine Football Association refers to the supercopa argentina 2015 to the 2016 date Galobtter (pingó mió) 18:41, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
