Talk:2013 Stanley Cup Finals
Per the discussion in 2008 and an RFC in 2016, consensus is for all the Stanley Cup series articles to have "FinalS", with an "S" at the end, in the article title. Per the policy on article titles, Wikipedia uses the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources, NOT the NHL's official preference (see also Wikipedia's guidelines on formatting trademarks and essay on using official names). Thanks. |

Rosters for the Finals
[edit]Should Jay Pandolfo, Kaspars Daugavins, Carl Soderberg, Niklas Svedberg, Carter Camper, Aaron Johnson, or Chris Bourque be added to the roster if they end up playing in the Finals for the Bruins? I heard that there is a good chance Pandolfo, Daugavins, or Soderberg will play because Gregory Campbell is injured. What about Henrik Karlsson, Ryan Stanton, or Ben Smith for the Blackhawks if they play? 108.0.244.168 (talk) 07:30, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. To qualify for engraving on the Cup, a player must satisfy one of the following conditions:
- He played in at least 50% of his team's games in the regular season OR
- He played in at least one game in the Finals
- Thus, if any of the players you noted above plays in any game in the Finals, they will qualify to get their name on the Cup. Canuck89 (converse with me) 08:19, June 11, 2013 (UTC)
- I proposed this in our main discussion on the topic but I guess it got buried by the overall debate. I was thinking (and have for a while) that Finals rosters should also contain stats (games played, goals, assists). This would remove any ambiguity on the topic. In addition to the above discussion, this is a tricky situation, such as the case with Carcillo. He will get a ring but this won't count as a Finals appearance. So if in the next few seasons he makes the Finals again and plays, what appearance of his would that be? Jmj713 (talk) 06:22, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- It would be Carcillo's second appearance if he plays in another Finals game. Smith played in a Finals game. Carcillo, Stanton, Mayers and Karlsson will all get rings, but this is not the point. The point is, will the Blackhawks petition to have any of these players' names on the Stanley Cup and will the NHL agree? 108.0.244.168 (talk) 21:10, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
Cup-winning goal
[edit]It appears that Bolland's goal to win the Cup is the latest a Cup-winning goal was scored in regulation in Finals history (at 19:01 of the 3rd). Haven't seen a source for this yet, but can be checked by our Cup champions table. Very notable information, I think. Jmj713 (talk) 06:25, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
- I found a source, and added it to the article. Zzyzx11 (talk) 06:45, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
Vandalism alert
[edit]The IP 205.200.148.43 has been blatantly vandalizing this article by calling Jonathan Toews "Jonathan Towes", saying he is from Norway, and messing up the Blackhawks roster template. Be on the lookout for this user and revert anything that is incorrect if this user does it again. 108.0.244.168 (talk) 02:04, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Title of the article
[edit]The logo says "Final", the common nomenclature for the Stanley Cup ending round is "Final". Why does wikipedia insist on titling it "Finals"?
See http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/ct-final-vs-finals-spt-0604-20150603-story.html. The NHL calls it the Final.
