Can someone please put 13/14 round dates on the page. My ref is http://www.capitalonecup.co.uk/news/article/201314-round-dates-792045.aspx
Numbers in brackets after club name
[edit]No explanation of this on the main page, I took a guess it was the club division. Is it really needed? 195.89.201.254 (talk) 09:50, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- I was about to ask the same question. An explanation is definitely needed. 81.152.111.150 (talk) 20:59, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- They refer to the level the team plays at in the English football pyramid - but I believe it is un-necessary. My removal has been reverted. GiantSnowman 13:45, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Yes I undid the removal of the bracketed numbers and also added an explanation for what they mean. I believe they are necessary and a good way of readily showing what league a team plays in. Many other people will also find them useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by E Con211 (talk • contribs) 13:52, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- So you basically added them back because you like them? GiantSnowman 13:59, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Because many users like them, and that info is some of the most interesting info one in cup season articles. -Koppapa (talk) 18:48, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Let's be honest here. The addition of the explanation "Numbers within brackets represent what league that team is participating in for the 2013-14 season." is wrong. The leagues in England are Premier League, Championship, League One and Two, not 1, 2, 3, 4, however much some of us yearn for halcyon days. 81.152.111.150 (talk) 20:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Words are meant to convey information, so if people know the top tier league is the Premier League, then using "Arsenal (1)" to indicate that Arsenal is from that league would be more than appropriate. No one wants to use "Cardiff City (currently playing the Premier League)", however, this is the most precise, because even in the last season, Cardiff was playing in the Football League Championship.
- Also, which tier a team is from is useful information. The cup competition is not reserved for the most prestigious teams; it also features teams from much lower tier leagues. You cannot expect the reader to know which tier an unknown team is from. "But you can click the club pages to see their leagues", thus you may say. OK, look at this season of Turkish Cup. In the first two rounds, the participants are from 4th, 5th tier. Most teams I never heard of (although I've a football fan for at least 10 years), and they do not have their pages in WP, and I don't want to do a team by team search to know their tier. And even I do, I would expect very little English sources to be found online, and I don't speak Turkish, so the Turkish pages (even if they exist) are meaningless to me. - And I was going to ask the same question again. Yes, an explanation has been added but it's in the introduction which I had skipped. Such an explanation should be in the small print below each round where one would logically look for such info. I suppose it is quite useful to have this info in brackets so long as people know what it means.--109.117.245.54 (talk) 21:45, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Livescores
[edit]Hi
Per WP:LIVESCORES we should not add scores to matches still in play. Please wait until match is finished and then add the score. If you dont discuss here your edits will be considered disrutive and you might get warned and blocked. This has also been discussed on WT:FOOTY many times.QED237 (talk) 20:45, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
