[edit]Hello all. I have done some major Copy Edits and also tried to bring this article back into the scope of neutrality. I think I did a sufficient job of it. However, I am not sure and thus didnt want to remove the issues until some others approved, gave some feedback, or made some more adjustments themselves. DaltonCastle (talk) 03:45, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- We should be able to remove some of the "reportedly", "supposedly". Either we believe the sources, or we need to get better ones. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:19, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- You got it. Thanks for the tip. DaltonCastle (talk) 03:14, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Article name change
[edit]I propose that the article title should be changed to avoid use of the word "massacre." It is a loaded term, and I would question the point of view of sources that refer to the violence as such. 2012 Myanmar sectarian violence might be more neutral. Please note that I am not asserting that a massacre did not take place; I am simply trying to achieve WP:neutrality.--RDavi404 (talk) 15:49, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
I agree but sectarian violence might not be the best option. I do agree with you though that it should be more neutral. Maybe Rakhine State Crisis? Or 2012 Myanmar crisis? Regardless of there being any persecution or not, it most certainly is a crisis due to ethnic tensions, panic, military intervention, etc. So maybe this can help with a new title. copyright issues?
[edit]At least a couple of whole sentences in the article have been copied verbatim from the sources. Ie
One of them was reported to have killed himself while other two were sentenced to death after a trial of 4 days
Riot police fired on more than 500 young Muslim Rohingyas who were demonstrating peacefully in Myoma Kayandan village on June 8 to pay respect to the 10 Muslims murdered in Taungup (Taunggoke) in Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma), on June 3.
We should rewrite them to avoid copyright issues. Mitch Ames (talk) 10:39, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I propose that this article, 2012 Myanmar massacre, be merged with 2012 Rakhine State riots. This article has few references and the material covered here could be covered in the latter article.--RDavi404 (talk) 00:06, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
