Consensus team
[edit]I have started putting together {{2011 NCAA Division I FBS College Football Consensus All-Americans}}. On offense and special teams a lot of positions did not have enough players that got 3 out of the 5 majors. Do Ryan Broyles, Robert Woods (wide receiver), Levy Adcock, Nate Potter, Dwayne Allen, Shawn Powell (American football), Joe Adams (wide receiver), and Tyler Lockett get consensus honors?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:13, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- Shouldn't Ryan Allen and Shawn Powell both be consensus all-America punters? By my calculations, they each had 7 points based on the NCAA's consensus criteria. Thanks! -AllisonFoley (talk) 08:02, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- I don't understand the football scoring as well as I do the basketball scoring. Could you itemize your points? Have you seen an official list that excludes Allen?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 08:34, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. How many points does Matt Kalil by your calculation?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 08:57, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have not seen a consensus all-America team official release by the NCAA.
- P Ryan Allen, 7 total points (AFCA: 0 points, AP: 2 points, FWAA: 0 points, WCFF: 2 points, TSN: 3 points)
- P Shawn Powell, 7 total points (AFCA: 3 points, AP: 1 point, FWAA: 0 points, WCFF: 3 points, TSN 0 points)
- P Bobby Cowan, 3 total points (AFCA: 0 points, AP: 0 points, FWAA: 3 points, WCFF, 0 points, TSN: 0 points)
- P Brad Wing, 3 total points (AFCA: 0 points, AP: 3 points, FWAA: 0 points, WCFF: 0 points, TSN: 0 points)
- OL Matt Kalil, 6 total points (AFCA: 0 points, AP: 3 points, FWAA: 0 points, WCFF: 3 points, TSN: 0 points) -AllisonFoley (talk) 20:33, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe there is a rule that ties are broken by number of first place votes, meaning that Allen can not be a consensus with only one first place vote in this case.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:25, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
- According to the NCAA Statistics Policy Book, "If there is a tie at a position in football for first team, or a tie for the final player on the first or second team in basketball, then the players who are tied shall be named to the team." That policy indicates that both Allen and Powell should both be named consensus all-American punters. -AllisonFoley (talk) 06:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- Probably, there will be an addition made at Sports Reference. Kevin Zeitler was added later than the others. If no addition is made there, we have to wait until next football seasons, NCAA media guide. Recall WP relies on sources that are available.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:51, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'll keep my eye out to see if he is added. Thanks for the reference! -AllisonFoley (talk) 06:54, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- A press release from his school or conference would also suffice as a source.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:04, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Rivals.com or Yahoo! Sports All-America Team
[edit]I'm not sure if the "Rivals.com" All-American Team has been replaced by Yahoo! Sports All-America Team after I came across a December 8 article. I know that Yahoo owns Rivals.com, but it seems that this is the only media outlet that we are missing.
I'm assuming that this is the same Rivals.com All-America Team that we have been waiting for except that it has a new name

- Aren't we still waiting for College Football News.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:16, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. I am 95% sure that you have found the Rivals.com AA team.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:19, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- My apologizes, you're right, we are waiting on CFN's AA team. So as far as Rivals/Yahoo, what should we list it as for Player X, Y, Z? Rivals.com like its been or Yahoo! Sports? The article itself says "Yahoo! Sports All-America" - so perhaps we should make the change? Aquamelli (talk) 06:39, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- We should use the new name.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:52, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- What do you think about either "Yahoo!" or "YS" for the inline enumeration.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:18, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- You're the veteran - I'll go with what you decide - But Yahoo! seems good Aquamelli (talk) 17:02, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- That would be fine.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:15, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Athlon and Phil Steele Magazines All-America Teams
[edit]Do we want to include the Athlon and Phil Steele magazines all-America teams? -AllisonFoley (talk) 20:22, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- I am against Phil Steele. He is a member of the committees for one of the lists already included. I think it might have been FWAA. No reason why his list should count any more than anyone else on the committee. No opinion about Athlon either way.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:41, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- This might get a wider audience at WP:CFB.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:10, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
- After further reflection, I would support Athlon if it were a major enough publication to have a WP article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:11, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
