Vandalism
[edit]Hi! I don't know how to edit the page properly, but I wanted to say that someone has been messing with the article, and many results of Round 1 (and maybe others, I didn't check totally) were altered. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.66.202.120 (talk) 22:30, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
The results in the table for Peru v. Venezuela are wrong, but I can't find where to change them. It says Peru lost 1-3, but further down the page and at FIFA it's clear Peru won 1-0. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.188.253.54 (talk) 03:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
I think in this case someone tried to edit "Venezuela v Peru" but did "Peru v Venezuela" instead. Sounds like a mistake that should be picked up soon. Jlsa (talk) 03:24, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
I tried to fix this, not sure if I got the correct template though. 128.146.34.79 (talk) 15:08, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Grreen line - blue line
[edit]Somebody has added green and blue lines. An explanation of what they mean might be in order, as it is not clear to everybody (including myself). Alexf(Talk/Contribs) 00:43, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- The explanation can be found in the second paragraph of the article. Mwlin1 01:33, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah! Should've read it and would've understood. Did now :). Thx. Alexf(Talk/Contribs) 02:37, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Rules to break ties
[edit]I don't know them myself, but it would be good to have the exact rules used to break a tie in case one or more teams have the same amount of points. --Scuac 01:09, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's on the main World Cup qualification page here, although it could be added to an overview page for the 2010 World Cup (as it is different to 2006). Putting it on every page with a group structure would be fairly repetitious Jlsa 02:34, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Missing section
[edit]And the top scorers? Slade (TheJoker) 18:42, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Yellow cards, red cards and clean sheets but no scorers? 76.68.37.245 (talk) 02:36, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Scenarios
[edit]The Peru elimination scenario is incorrect. If Venezuela wins but Ecuador loses, Venezuela has 19 points and must lose out for Peru to catch them. Ecuador and Uruguay would both have 17 points and have to play against each other and Colombia (who would also have 17). If those three draw every game against each other, they would all end with 19 points as well and there would be a five-way tie at 19 for fifth. (Bolivia would only need to have 15 points here, as they would have to defeat Ecuador but otherwise play teams in the top four.) So that would not eliminate Peru. An Ecuador draw would eliminate them, as someone among Ecuador, Uruguay, and Colombia would have to reach 20, regardless of Venezuela's result. Same is true if Uruguay draws with Venezuela. So Peru is eliminated by a loss plus a win or draw by either Uruguay or Ecuador, but if Ecuador and Uruguay both lose they have an outside chance. In addition, if Peru draws with Colombia, they are eliminated if Uruguay wins and Ecuador at least manages a draw (or vice versa), because one of those two teams will reach 21 points in that scenario. Doesnt look promising :P 201.230.99.103 (talk) 00:30, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Round 15 scenarios
[edit]Brazil can clinch even if Uruguay wins; Argentina and Uruguay play in Round 18, and therefore cannot both catch Brazil if the other parts of the scenario hold. (Argentina would be on 22 points and Uruguay at most 21, with Brazil on 30. Both would therefore need to win their last three, but that can't be done if they play each other.) PiGuy314 (talk) 05:42, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Round 16 scenarios
[edit]Chile clinching is extremely complicated if they lose, because you have to figure in Uruguay and Venezuela as well (either or both could get to 27 by winning out). Colombia and Ecuador both losing isn't enough: if Argentina wins, beats Peru, then loses to Uruguay, and Uruguay and Venezuela both win out, Chile wouldn't even guarantee fifth place. I think you'd need Colombia and Ecuador to both lose and Venezuela and Argentina to either lose or draw; then Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela can't reach 27 and either Uruguay or Argentina can but not both. PiGuy314 (talk) 17:53, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Final Match Day Scenario Missing
[edit]If Uruguay defeat Argentina and Ecuador defeat Chile, then Uruguay qualify for the world cup and Ecuador qualifies for the playoff and Argentina would be eliminated, goal difference and total goals scored would not play a part because everything would be decided by points from matches.
Observe the Current Standings:
Argentina 25 points Uruguay 24 points Ecuador 23 points
IF Uruguay defeat Argentina, and Ecuador defeat Chile, on the final matchday, the points become:
Uruguay 27 points Ecuador 26 points Argentina 25 points
Argentina would be out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.92.108.10 (talk) 18:02, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's not missing at all (and never was, at least from the version I put in). Uruguay qualifies for the World Cup if they win. Ecuador gets the playoff if they win and Argentina and Uruguay don't draw (or if they win by less than five, no matter what the result of Uruguay-Argentina is). PiGuy314 (talk) 05:56, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Brazil's record - 2 losses or 3?
[edit]The "Standings" table shows 2 losses for Brazil, but in the chart next to it and in the round sections below Brazil has 3 losses. Can this be correct? Dcs002 (talk) 04:22, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Broken links to match reports
[edit]Looks like FIFA's site doesn't have the match reports anymore, it's 404 for all of them. Alternative?
Final Match Day Scenario
[edit]Argentina would have finished in fourth place and qualified directly for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, even with only a draw with Uruguay. --RLH Grumicker (talk) 19:20, 08 January 2015 (CET)
