Polish Army Stadium?
[edit]As far as I know, PZPN haven't decided yet where Polish National Team will play its matches. Could anyone provide any source confirming that those games will be played on Polish Army Stadium? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.205.243.246 (talk) 13:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Some people have been through these pages just adding in the major stadium for each country (Spain and Italy are the best examples) without any knowledge at all about what will actually occur. I caught and deleted the Italian and Spanish ones (the same IP address that put the Warsaw entries in put all the Spanish games in Madrid), but can't claim to be knowledgeable about all countries (some will obviously play at the grounds they always do). My advice would be to delete the entries if you feel that PZPN haven't made a decision - you are probably correct. Also, get a user account. (No doubt something in this addition is "contrary to policy", but there you go). Jlsa (talk) 13:52, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Why AXA Stadium? This isn't confirmed anywhere in the reference posted. Surely at least some of the games will be played at the Eden Stadion? Need a proper source Gresszilla (talk) 08:21, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- As per above. My guess is anything by the IP address that added those venues could well be deleted.Jlsa (talk) 10:22, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Czech Republic-Slovakia
[edit]According to [1] or [2] the goal for Czech Republic was not scored by Jankulovski, but it was an own goal by Škrteľ. --Kompik (talk) 13:43, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, but in the end all that matters is what the referee decides (not AFP or the Slovak Football Federation). The referee has (at least at present) awarded it to Jankulovski [3]. Like the deflected goal in the Israel-Greece match, there are actually a whole lot of guidelines for determining whether a deflection "counts" as the final touch. Next matchday Scenarios
[edit]San Marino are eliminated. They can only reach 12pts, Slovakia and Poland still have to play each other, meaning that 12pts will not be enough to clinch 2nd place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gero13 (talk • contribs) 18:58, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Why sixth-place is irrevant?
[edit]Results with sixth-placed teams are not counted in choosing wild-cards. I understand that third, fourth, fifth places are irrevant, but I cannot agree that sixth-placed teams are irrevant with the qualification.--Didgogns (talk) 19:07, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, could you rephrase the question? Aheyfromhome (talk) 19:31, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Which 8 of the 9 runner up teams that reach play off is affected by which team finishes last in a 6-team group, as results against that team aren't counted in the runner up table. Because of this, it is interesting to see which games may affect which team finishes last in a six team group. (I agree with Didgogns on this) Lejman (talk) 20:55, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Poland v Northern Ireland
[edit]The Poland goal never touched Lewandowski, so I don't see how it can be credited to him. Mjefm (talk) 17:19, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Setting aside the debate about own goals (I saw an OG explaination from FIFA ages ago that would class it as the striker's goal anyway), we have to go with what the FIFA match report says. If the ref put it as the striker's goal when it actually wasn't, then that's the decision of the ref. We'll have to go with the ref in the same way as we would if he'd given a goal that hadn't crossed the line in a 1-0 result. We couldn't claim that it ws 0-0, or put it as 1-0 but nobody scored the goal. While sometimes it might not be truelly correct when you watch it, we have to go with FIFA and not our novel judgement.
