José Serra is not of "Centre-right"
[edit]I wonder who is insisting in keep the false information that the candidacy of José Serra would be "centre-right" and that Dilma Rousseff would represent "social-democracy". PSDB has since always been a social-democratic party, with support from centre-right (PFL/DEM). The insistence on writing false information can only be qualified as vandalism or proselytism in one of the few places on the internet that should be free of them: Wikipedia. --130.132.123.28 (talk) 19:36, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Colours
[edit]These colours are horridly hard on the eyes, can we go back to the old colours?Lihaas (talk) 22:05, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
questions
[edit]seen the polling chart, after april-june Serra suddenly slipped below Dilma. What accounts for this? Was there some issue that caused the sudden change or just more aggressive campaigning?Lihaas (talk) 11:01, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- It must be probably because until the campaign really started, it remained unclear to many people that Rousseff was Lula's successor. Since Lula is one of the most popular presidents we ever had, most people who vote for Rousseff hope that she will carry on with Lula's policies, thus the sudden rise. Curiously, the country seems now quite divided, though she is 10 percentual points ahead of Serra on most recent pollings. Victão Lopes I hear you... 17:07, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- The jump in Dilma's ratings in April is actually because another left-wing candidate decided not to run, and pollsters started to omit him from the survey.128.151.91.93 (talk) 23:46, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Where are figures coming from?
[edit]What is the source for the presidential figures by state? I've searched the vast sprawling jungle of the TSE website and I can't find state figures. Intelligent Mr Toad (talk) 10:28, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- There are several sources that give state figures for both the 1st and 2nd round of the elections:
- TSE official software: Divulga 2010 (needs to be downloaded)
- News organizations: R7 election results; UOL election results; Terra election results; etc. Limongi (talk) 13:46, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for that. The TSE website would have to be just about the most confusing and unusable electoral website in the world. To find the state figures you have to download some sort of dodgy software, which my computer rightly warns me not to do. The media sites you've given are much better. Note: It is generally frowned upon to insert a new section between existing ones. --NEMT (talk) 04:39, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Brazil can do more: centre-right?
[edit]The PSDB led coalition? Yeah, citation needed here. --NEMT (talk) 19:42, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Why worry about "States Carried"?
[edit]Dividing the map into "red" and "blue" states isn't particularly informative, since differently from the north-American system, there is no winner-takes-all that would make "winning" a state important. If anything, this is quite a misrepresentation of the election since it clouds real voting patterns and voting divisions. Plus, the parties of the elected governors in many cases is different or even opposed to the party who "carried" the state. Perhaps this "states carried" wouldbe best left to American elections, or at least we could give them shades of colours to reflect true voting records (example, 50,1%-55% light blue, ..., 100% - deep blue). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.204.102.137 (talk) 13:36, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
