2010 already!?

[edit]

I think this is too much crystal-balling. The 2009 competition hasn't even started yet and we don't know any of the qualified teams for 2010. I know that some competitions that act as qualifiers for this one have already begun but is it not still too early to start a page about a competition that is over a year away? Koyanagi (talk) 12:57, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, for one, we don't even know of any allocation as some member nations of AFC are getting graded again in October, so they may earn or lose spots allocated the previous season. But i think we need this page as like you say, some leagues have already started. But nothing should be set in stone, should be a provisional page? Druryfire (talk) 13:57, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is exactly crystal-balled. AFC Champions League is not like UEFA Champions League, which the teams are confirmed one and a half years ago. For example, the teams in the UCL 2009–10 are confirmed at January 1, 2008, so the teams can be publish at the article. However, AFC Champions League is not at this condition. The teams are revealed at the last year. For example, Teams for ACL 2009 are revealed at only November 2008. So I would remove those information in 2010 article until the provisional one comes out. AFC did announce the competition format will be applied to the AFC Champions League in 2009 and 2010. [1] Mousega (talk) 11:34, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There still have one problem. Despite the participation countries are confirmed, number of teams go to the group stage directly and to the play-off are still NOT confirmed. If both the finalist of AFC Cup 2009 are from the East Asia, that would cause a problem of number of teams. So I suggest not to include those information at this stage. Raymond "Giggs" Ko 14:59, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The spots are confirmed, not just the countries. The only thing that not confirmed, as well as the ACL 2009, is the MAs like South Korea and Saudi Arabia still not met the criteria. If they do not get things done by 15 Dec, thay will lose the spots. Mousega (talk) 17:30, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it needs to be split again, into East/West qualifiers and then sectioned off to AFC Cup Winners and Runners Up, as they could be placed in any group. Look at 2009, the winners and losers are in the West Zone, same could happen again, so AFC could make amendments again. Druryfire (talk) 17:50, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK I'll work on it. Mousega (talk) 17:30, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah you are right. I removed those information but Mousega made them return. Raymond "Giggs" Ko 14:26, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's not what he meant. Mousega (talk) 17:30, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the page is now ready and something similoiar should be used for the future. I would even mention the point now, that maybe they shouldn't even be grouped at this stage to East and west, but just put in one pot, under the name Qualifying Round.
