Include Table?

While I'm personally unfamiliar with Mexican states/areas, would it be possible to have a breakdown of cases by region like there is in the United States article? Banjaloupe (talk) 20:24, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

As far as I know, this information is unavailable. --ElTio (talk) 14:10, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
how is it not available? where did the info to make the image on the page come from? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:H1N1_Mexico_Map.svg Default.XBE (talk) 20:17, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Swine influenza has a lot of new content relevant to this article. --Una Smith (talk) 04:47, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

hi this is Luis from Ciudad de México It' would be nice if someone create a chart to try to se a trend of the ILI cases reported in Mexico. Does anyone knows dates and figures? An if so, can create it and paste it here. I think trend could help us to se how serious if not horrible this could get Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.140.165.17 (talk) 05:22, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Patient Zero

Edgar Hernandez, 5yo boy, contracted from Smithfield Farms (Smithfield Foods) pigfarm in Veracruz, Mexico (state), according to CNN, Sanjay Gupta. (aired 9am EDT 29 April 2009 CE) 76.66.202.139 (talk) 13:07, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

This child is not in any sense the index case for this outbreak, only the source of the earliest sample found so far in Mexico. --Una Smith (talk) 15:07, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
There are current questions over whether the La Gloria cases were in fact the earliest in Mexico or whether there were earlier cases in Mexico City. This will probably not be easily or quickly resolved. Rmhermen (talk) 17:22, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

North American map

There's a North American map available: image:H1N1 North America Map.svg

76.66.202.139 (talk) 14:19, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

That map is wrong there have been 0 AH1N1 comfirmed deaths in Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas and as the Mexican map shows all the states north of Mexico State to Texas have had deaths which in fact have had 0 confirmed deaths, the infobox confirms this. Where did the information from the North American map come from? Until this question is answered the map should be removed. There worst enemy of information is wrong information. -AMAPO (talk) 04:53, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Then please update the map. 76.66.202.139 (talk) 05:41, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I wish I could but I do not have a .svg file editing program I hope someone does fix it -AMAPO (talk) 07:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

The current map and current table (may 28, 2009 at 1:43am EDT) still do not match. For example, Tabasco shows no deaths in the table, but it is colored black on the map symbolizing it does have deaths. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rob99324 (talkcontribs) 05:44, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Probably because this article is out of date. The Spanish version of this article is more up to date. 70.29.208.129 (talk) 05:46, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Main Page

Have you all seen the blurb about this on Main Page, in the "in the news" (ITN) column? It is way out of date. Please ask the ITN editors to fix it, here. --Una Smith (talk) 14:51, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Missing information??

The article says:

"Confirmed cases

Dr. José Ángel Córdova Villalobos, the federal Secretary of Health, stated that since March 2009, there have been over 1300 reported cases and put the death toll at 83, with 20 confirmed to be linked to a new swine influenza strain of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1. As of April 26 there have been 1,614 cases, with 103 deaths and about 400 patients in hospitals. Around two-thirds of the sick patients had recovered."

- Were the 20 confirmed 20 out of 20? In other words, have all the tests been positive for the new swine influenza strain? Or have there been a lot of tests done that came out as negative?

- How many of the people who died have been tested? Are all 83 deaths due to the same strain?

I do not know if this information is available. The article is quite incomplete without this sort of data, IMO.

Maybe more detailed information is on a Mexican website.

Thanks. Mexicoqwerty (talk) 14:54, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

The available information really is sketchy but as I understand it, large numbers of samples are being tested to find each confirmed case or death. --Una Smith (talk) 15:04, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

timeline

I think it would be valuable to have some sort of figure that shows something like number of reported cases by week. It would help to illustrate the trends in new infections. ike9898 (talk) 18:01, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

There's an article for that, check out 2009 swine flu outbreak timeline 76.66.202.139 (talk) 04:01, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Confirmation Standard for Cases

What is the standard for reporting cases on this article? The "Cases" table at the top of the article seems to conflict with the body of the article. I'm sure the discrepancies can be explained based on confirmation standards (eg, WHO laboratory confirmation vs. Mexican government laboratory confirmation), but the question remains, what confirmation standards are in use on this and related articles? If there is no confirmation standard in use for this article, there should be to maintain consistency.

My understanding is that as of April 29th, some 159 deaths in Mexico are possibly attributed to swine flu, Mexican laboratories have confirmed 20 of those and the WHO has independently confirmed 7. The "Cases" table lists 17 attributed, and none confirmed, while the body of the article mentions the 20 confirmed by Mexico and also 103 as of April 26th. Where dos the "table" come from?

I am very concern because the table does not show accurate info. Mexican goverment have said that there are only 8 deaths, 152 of suspected deaths were ruled-out two days ago. This is a very worrysome fact. I am a physician and I do not know whether this 152 are "expected", he said that 2 of them are expected, but the other 150? what happened with them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hedleypanama (talkcontribs) 11:07, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
