Where is the discussion about candidates' backgrounds and political affiliation?

I saw a notation that said the consensus was to list political offices held. I take that to mean elected office. But don't incumbents get enough of an advantage already?

It seems the accurate, unbiased, 'encyclopaedic' policy would be to either let every candidate have a mention of his/her "background" or allow no one to do that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Statmaster (talkcontribs) 01:15, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
