A.D.C. Ars et Labor Grottaglie

[edit]

Grottaglie was added to Girone H three days before the start of the season. The only information I can find is the announcement from the LND pdf file. Does anyone have any information that can be added to the article on the reason for their addition? --Scottmsg (talk) 02:45, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is pretty hard to explain. In order to fill all the vacancies for the new season, the Serie D league committee assigned a number of "points" to each club who completed a readmission request form (either clubs relegated from Serie D, or Eccellenza clubs who had failed to get promoted in the season); such "points" were calculated according to several parameters, including football results in recent years, club history and population of the city where the club was based. According to that table, Grottaglie (an Eccellenza club with recent Serie D history) was originally awarded the last remaining spot in the Serie D league; later, Elpidiense appealed the decision (as they claimed the points assigned to them were lower than expected): the appeal was successively accepted, and Elpidiense were awarded four more points in this table, being therefore readmitted at Grottaglie's place. Grottaglie itself appealed the decision to the Tribunale Nazionale di Arbitrato per lo Sport (Arbitration Court for Sports of the Italian Olympic Committee), and won the appeal, thus being readmitted to Serie D in a second time.
