Change the name?
[edit]The current article name is quite confusing -- it's sounds like Yemeni-Americans are attacking an embassy, or that the attack was on a Yemeni-American embassy. How about 2008 American Embassy attack in Yemen? Compare 1992 Israeli Embassy attack in Buenos Aires and 1974 Japanese Embassy attack in Kuwait. Jpatokal (talk) 05:29, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. I'm gonna pull a WP:BEBOLD and move it. -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 15:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Nice writing!
[edit]Good judgement all editors! The first sentence doesn't use the title. For most articles we should but the manual of style gives leeway for titles that are not the official name. Great that we don't say " 2008 American Embassy attack in Yemen was an attack in 2008 in Yeman " Chergles (talk) 19:03, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Kudos
[edit]You know, we can't put it in the article, but those security forces at the embassy (Marines?) deserve a big bonus and a pat on the back from the Pentagon. I know that stuff like this is what we pay them for, but still... Good job, guys. Keep up the good work. -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 15:29, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Kudos really goes to the Yemeni security forces (Though US and UK trained). TIME says: "Although Wednesday's attack on the U.S. embassy in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a left at least 16 people dead, the bravery and quick reaction of Yemeni security forces foiled what appeared to be a daring attempt to storm the embassy compound and kill everyone inside." al Qaeda affiliate
[edit]What specifically does "al Qaeda affiliate" refer to? Actual shared structure, or just similar philosophy? Sad mouse (talk) 14:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]I think the picture of the bombing in Baghdad is inappropriate in this article. Surely a picture can just wait until there is one of the actual attack? Sad mouse (talk) 15:36, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. If it were an article about car bombs it would be appropriate, but not for this article. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 16:04, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
What about these? --Mozyr (talk) 20:00, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Those would be great, but I guess there's a copyright issue. --brewcrewer (yada, yada) 09:09, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
