Notable undrafted players?
[edit]What is the purpose of this section. First of all, none of the players listed in this section are particularly notable for any reason. They have all played at most one season, some of them not even that much.
Perhaps, in time, some of these players may have notable careers, but at this point this cannot be justified.
This section should be removed until it is relevant and accurate.MrShamrock (talk) 22:06, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. The only one who I would currently consider "notable" would be Smith, due to the Pro Bowl selection, this only maintaining a loose notability. While all the others have had notable moments during the 2008 season (I.E. McClain's tying the NFL record for safeties, Bill Belichick stating that the Pats should've drafted Guyton), it remains to be seen if they will truly be considered "notable" when history looks back on this draft and their careers. Mastrchf (t/c) 22:23, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- The notable undrafted players section has usually included any player who made an NFL roster without being drafted.--2008Olympianchitchat 18:54, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, that's just not notable enough. Lots of draft picks don't make rosters and lots of undrafted guys make rosters. Every team has undrafted guys on their roster at some point, if not all the time, during an NFL season. Making the roster is not notable enough.►Chris NelsonHolla! 20:35, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- By the way, I've removed everyone but Clifton Smith from the list for now. Every other undrafted player could fall off the face of the earth by 2009, never be heard from again, and would they really be notable? No. Smith's Pro Bowl selection, I believe, gives him permanent notability here. Regardless of what he does from here on out, he will and always be a Pro Bowl selection. But he's the only one with such notability at the moment.►Chris NelsonHolla! 20:36, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Please stop putting every undrafted player from the 2008 draft into this article. As was discussed earlier, Smith's Pro Bowl selection makes him the only notable player from that draft as of right now. All of the others are certainly notable enough to have a Wikipedia article, but not notable enough to be considered as a "notable undrafted player" in this table on this article, as of right now. --MrShamrock (talk) 22:08, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Please see the discussion at WT:NFL#Notable Undrafted Players. Consensus right now is to include if the player is a starter on the team. I think that a couple of these guys are starters at first glance, so let's not delete them all at once.--2008Olympianchitchat 22:23, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- True, but let's not blanket include them all also. Mastrchf (t/c) 22:28, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

- Please see my response at WT:NFL#Notable Undrafted Players. Also, let's close this discussion here, and continue all discussion about this subject at that link, to keep it all in one place. Thanks --MrShamrock (talk) 22:37, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- I added David Hawthorne because he replaced Lofa Tatupu halfway through the season and led the whole team with tackles. Isn't that good enough to include him in the "Notable Undrafted Players" section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.231.110.250 (talk) 02:14, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Implementing change to draft table
[edit]I am currently working in my sandbox on implementing the changes I made to the 2009 and 2010 draft articles. The changes consist of replacing the existing tables with a single table supported by a collection of templates. Once I've completed the conversion in my sandbox, I'll implement it into the page. Please let me know if you have any problems with these changes. — DeeJayK (talk) 17:38, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

I dunnow what's going on lately but the sortable column headers aren't working on several of the NFL draft year pages. 2009 works, 2004 works, but 2005-2008 don't, nor do 2010-2012. Somebody screw up? IdioT.SavanT.i4 (talk) 05:33, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
