Rating

[edit]

Rated the document based on the information from Aviation Wikiproject and Wikiproject London but I did not give a quality assessment as I was unsure. PheonixRMB (talk) 15:03, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, the article will grow as more information comes to light, as the BA038 article did. Mjroots (talk) 19:15, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Potential source of info

[edit]

Pprune discussion on the accident.

The above has been removed from the article twice now. I appreciate that Pprune is not a reliable source, but threads on Pprune often have links to "niche" sources that are reliable sources and can be used to provide references to articles - e.g. I found details of Michael Chapman on Pprune, and was then able to find the company website giving verifiable information that backed up what had been posted on Pprune, which I was able to add to the article. Please can we keep the link here if it is not going to be kept in the article. Mjroots (talk) 21:36, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also found the NTSB info from what was posted on Pprune. Mjroots (talk) 21:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, find useful links there. But we don't link to a message board simply because they happen to have some links peppered here and there.
If you need to remember the link, save it as a bookmark. Don't add it to a Wikipedia article. The359 (talk) 07:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BBC Error?

[edit]

Does anyone know why BBC News are reporting the aircraft type as a Cessna 1 rather than a Cessna 501? Is this the BBC's mistake or ours? Dtribe (talkcontribs) 00:40, 01 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just noticed they're also printing build information contradictory to the data on this site. Dtribe (talkcontribs) 00:44, 01 April 2008 (UTC)

Cessna Citation 501 is also known as the Citation 1, so that is correct. It is possible that the build info is incorrect. Once the registration is known for definite the build info will fall into place. Mjroots (talk) 06:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Registration is confirmed as VP-BGE (Pprune was right yet again). Mjroots (talk) 06:32, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Build year confirmed as 1975, so it was correct. Mjroots (talk) 07:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Farnborough, Kent

[edit]

Farnborough is often referred to as being in Kent. Until 1974 it was in Kent. The local authority is the London Borough of Bromley, but the postal address is Orpington, Kent. Many locals will tell you that they live in Kent, not London. Mjroots (talk) 05:26, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Special Bulletin

[edit]

A Special Bulletin has been published by the AAIB. It's a PDF doc which I can't access. Anyone want to check it out and expand the article? Mjroots (talk) 15:53, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

I know the picture is only supposed to illustrate the aircraft, but it would be better if we had one that wasn't so obviously taken nowhere near Biggin Hill 82.1.62.101 (talk) 09:19, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

'Biggin Hill', rather than Farnborough?

[edit]

Wouldn't this article be better titled "2008 Biggin Hill Cessna Citation crash"? Farnborough, Kent is quoted in the press, but the official AAIB report doesn't even mention it and always refers to Biggin Hill instead, where the aircraft was based and took off from. Within this context – general aviation – Farnborough is especially ambiguous, as it is mostly associated with Farnborough Airport, which is not far away in Hampshire and is popular with bizjets even more than Biggin Hill. --Giuliopp (talk) 22:32, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
