The result of the move request was: consensus to move, but no consensus on the name. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:23, 17 April 2011 (UTC) Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:23, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
2008–2009 Anti-Israeli riots in Norway → 2008–2009 riots in Norway — The name is superficial and WP:UNDUE. Some of the rioters were "Anti-Israeli", many were general troublemakers, and many were peaceful and not anti-anything. Relisting to clarify topic, see below. Andrewa (talk) 01:16, 14 March 2011 (UTC) --Geschichte (talk) 19:25, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure how rioters can be peaceful and not anti-anything, nor how the proposed new title could possibly cover the activities of such people. Relisting in the hope that someone will clarify exactly what the intended topic is. Andrewa (talk) 01:16, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose. Support renaming to →2008–2009 Anti-Israel riots in Norway. After reading through the article, leaving out the "Anti-Israel" would be misleading. Title should be "Anti-Israel" per WP:PRECISE.—Biosketch (talk) 02:25, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Support some change, not sure exactly what. Surely "Oslo" rather than "Norway", and there's no need to capitalize "Anti" if it's not at the start. Other than that I don't see anything terribly wrong with the present title,
though something like "...Israeli embassy protests..." might be clearer(probably not - they weren't all at the embassy). --Kotniski (talk) 11:13, 22 March 2011 (UTC) - Relisted. MacMedtalkstalk 03:17, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

"Rebellion" label
[edit]The infobox labels of "rebellion" and "rebels" are inaccurate. A rebellion is an organized movement aimed at displacing the rule of a government throughout a certain area, not anti-Israeli protests. Unless anyone can give me a reason why, I'm changing the terms to "rioters" and "riot." J1.grammar natz (talk) 23:26, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
unsourced claims
[edit]in the opening paragraph, several statements remain uncited, such as:
"the rioters mainly targeted Jews and people suspected of being Jewish, but also attacked people affiliated with the LGBT community and known and suspected pro-Israel activists. Additionally, violent clashes between the demonstrators and Norwegian police officers led to hundreds of injuries. Between 29 December and 10 January, the Oslo Police had arrested around 200 people, mostly Muslims, of whom a significant number were registered asylum seekers. The rioters had been supported by left-wing activists.
where's the proof/source that mainly jews were targeted? Where's the source for the specific targeting of LGBT related persons? In the last sentence, what's the source behind the vague definition of 'left-wing' activists? 12.146.12.2 (talk) 18:08, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
