Fair use rationale for Image:Holdenlogo.png

[edit]

Image:Holdenlogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please, when making edits to the drivers list, don't just type it in, check to see it doesn't go TV presenters, film directors and TV soap opera characters, and pay attention to the nationality flags. --Falcadore 13:08, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Team Kiwi Racing

[edit]

Don't delete Team Kiwi Racing from the list of drivers and teams. Even if the team never races again, they did race in season 2007. --Falcadore 03:31, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Racer1 can you please revert the last edit? Macrow and Radisich may not be current Team Kiwi drivers anymore, but they did driver for Team Kiwi. If Wikipedia is to be a permanent record of what transpired during season 2007 then it needs to reflect all the drivers who competed for the whole season, not just the drivers at the most recent round, or are you going to delete Brad Jones and Fabian Coulthard, neither of which will race at the next round, as well? Both Macrow and Radisich are in the points table, the list of drivers and teams should say who they drove with. --Falcadore 08:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007 V8 Supercar season or 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series?

[edit]

There is conflict between the title and the scope of this article. The title infers that it encompasses all V8 Supercar racing for the 2007 season and whilst it covers the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series in great detail it does not even mention the 2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series. If it is intended to cover only the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series then I suggest that the title be changed to reflect that. GTHO (talk) 06:56, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Or you could add the Fujitsu series information. The alternative is to have one year named differently to all the others, seemingly just because V8 Supercar did not attend the Australian Grand Prix. --Falcadore (talk) 16:41, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the two Series were staged as separate entities, wouldn’t it be better for us to treat them the same way? The Championship Series and the Fujitsu Series would need separate Teams & Drivers tables, separate Race Calendars & separate Results tables regardless, so it seems logical to detail each Series in separate articles under relevant names, i.e. “2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series” and “2007 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series” respectively. Any other "non-points" V8 Supercar event could still be included in the relevant Series article with an appropriate notation re its status. Ditto all other “V8 Supercar seasons” GTHO (talk) 09:58, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not disputing that, I'm just against changing the title of this page. 'Season' is the accepted title across all forms of current motorsport and more than a few templates are wired into pages that say 'season'. I do not believe your above stated reason to be sufficient to overcome the re-writing that would have to occur on several other pages and the deviations from standard. Perhaps a solution might be something like in 1998 Australian Touring Car season? But if your heart is really set on changing 'season' then perhaps you should take up the matter with the general motorsport group and get them to change F1, MotoGP, WRC, FIAGT, ALMS etc etc. But if you will permit me, the title 'season' does give the article increased scope to cover events not directly related to the racing, but are related to the category - news events, changes in personnel, forthcoming calendar changes for following years, and so-on. --Falcadore (talk) 01:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so where do we go from here? Does the Fujitsu series get added to the Season page in detail or do we reduce the Season page to a summary of the year and link off to separate detailed Championship and Fujitsu pages? GTHO (talk) 11:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It depends on what exactly your issue is. If it is the title of the page, or the lack of Fujitsu series references. While a rename of the pages to something specifically to V8 Supercar Series without the 'season' tag is certainly possible, I would not want to see it done until a new 'Season' page, something in the manner of 1995 Australian Touring Car season was ready to replace the season page rather than leave it as a redirect. If it is the lack of Fujitsu series content, my preference would be for the preparation of a seperate article for the 2007 Fujitsu series, because the combined length and detail demanded would push the article well over the recommended 40kb guideline.
As an example of a pre-existing discussion on a very similar topic, I'd recommend a look here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject American Open Wheel Racing#Page Moves. --Falcadore (talk) 02:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a first pass attempt, for the 2008 season, which I'm sure you'll agree has a higher priority than 2007. --Falcadore (talk) 07:52, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think your test page is on the right track. GTHO (talk) 03:10, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add discussion at the 2008 season talk page. --Falcadore (talk) 03:16, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
