Article name
[edit]Is it absolutely necessary to have "State Farm" in the article title? This issue is important if we want to maintain consistent naming conventions if we are going to create more articles on past and future home run derbys. Sponsors change you know. Currently there are articles that are named 1984 Orange Bowl and 2007 Orange Bowl, not "1984 Orange Bowl" and "2007 FedEx Orange Bowl". Zzyzx11 (Talk) 01:14, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- It shouldn't be. Move it back, please. LondonStatto 02:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well I partially agree, but in your example of the Orange Bowl, there is only one Orange Bowl. There are hundreds of home run derbys across the country each year. I say to keep "State Farm" in for identity purposes. WildFan48 17:56, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- This is the only home run derby that there should be on Wiki. (That I can think of) If any identification is needed then MLB should be used, not State Farm, as State Farm could be seen as advertising and is just not needed. I say 2007 Home Run Derby followed by 2007 MLB Home Run Derby should be used. Michael Greiner 03:49, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm happy with 2007 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby. LondonStatto 04:02, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that 2007 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby would be best of the suggestions. It can't be 2007 MLB Home Run Derby because there shouldn't be abbreviations, and I think 2007 Home Run Derby could be more specific. So if the page is moved it I believe it has to be 2007 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby. WildFan48 18:03, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Done, then, since there were no objections. LondonStatto 19:10, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Talk page still has to be moved. --Michael Greiner 03:40, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Now done. --Michael Greiner 03:44, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- That's interesting. Are article talk pages not automatically renamed when the article is renamed? 64.229.94.163 (talk) 22:00, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
- Now done. --Michael Greiner 03:44, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Band at start
[edit]- Could somebody tell me which band performed at the home run derby of this year: it was something with crown. (sorry if I may violate rules posting this; i am a beginner and I don't know anything) (07:40, 11 July 2007 (UTC))
- It was the Counting Crows. --Michael Greiner 03:40, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Summary
[edit]This article would look pretty good if it had a main body (basically a summary), but there are no other articles quite like this on Wikipedia so I'm not too sure how to approach this. It would obviously need a summary of the three rounds, but it could also have some other info, such as the performance of the Counting Crows and other notable facts about the Derby. Please leave any suggestions on how to do this and what format to use for this below. WildFan48 22:39, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
