Grand Prix naming

[edit]

I know in this day and age of commercialism, everything from the track names to the events themselves have been sold off to the highest bidder but, is it absolutely required to include the commercial name of the Grand prix here on Wikipedia? It smacks of advertising. As a motorsports purist, I prefer the original names such as the French Grand Prix or British Grand Prix rather than some commercial entity.Orsoni 16:09, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree 100%. On my way out -- good luck with this place, and again, good job on the season review pages.--Uli Kunkel 16:13, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also agree 100%. Martin tamb 06:52, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As per Wikipedia's Neutral point of view policy, advertising links have been removed.Orsoni 11:42, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that applies here to be honest. If it did then you'd have to remove all the references from the Formula One pages as well and from all the NASCAR pages where they have the Nextel Cup, the Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. Readro 02:16, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tyre

[edit]

Doesn't all 125cc and 250cc riders using Dunlop? Martin tamb 07:03, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For regular riders, yes. But there might be some wildcard riders (especially in Japan) who use Bridgestone. BleuDXXXIV 11:28, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Official Entry List

[edit]

Since the official entry list has been released, isn't it would be more convenient to refer all of them to one reference page (1 for each class, so total of 3 reference page). These are the reference pages: MotoGP entry list, 250cc entry list and 125cc entry list. I personally prefer this because this would make the reference list more compact and simple. Rookie of the Year

[edit]

It is official award, so I decided to mark. I don't think it deserve its own table though, so it's better mark them in the standings with different background colour.

Riders who are in their first full season are counted. For example Espargaro brothers had races last year, Aleix moved from 125cc to 250cc mid-season, Pol replaced Iannone starting from Brno after one wildcard appearance. They are both rookies according to motogp.com.BleuDXXXIV 11:28, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If Nieto is eligible for rookie of the year, can someone change his colour? Thanks.Damanmundine1 13:22, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think he is eligible because he is just a replacement rider. Because like BleuDXXXIV says, replacement and wild card riders arent counted (see Aleix Espargaro who races half of 2006 season but is eligible as rookie for 2007 as 2007 is his first full season). Also on the official entry list from motogp.com only Guintoli's name that are marked with R (for rookie). Martin tamb 07:19, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sortable table

[edit]

I've been browsing around and find a form of sortable table from Serie A 2005-06#Classification article, maybe it is a good idea to implement this on the standings table, so that we can sort the finishing position from each race or total points as we wish. I don't know how the table works just yet, but if anyone thinks this is a good idea, I'm gonna try to implement this table. Martin tamb 07:26, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Points

[edit]

Hi, how many points for 1st, for 2nd, for 3rd etc etc. It is not in the article. - Culnacréann 16:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Constructors' Championship

[edit]

Should we add the Constructors' championship table for all classes, since it's an official award? Also, does anyone know if the Team championship is an official award (in which case it could have its own table)? Asendoh 21:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's official.

Fair use rationale for Image:Flag of Valencia Autonomo community.png

[edit]

Image:Flag of Valencia Autonomo community.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Article size

[edit]

After updating Japanese GP info, I found that article is over 375000 bytes. As a comparison, 2007 F1 season article is just over 300000. I think it could be good to decrease the size of article. Two options:
1. Split it so that there is own articles for each class
2. Especially in 125cc and 250cc, there are number of riders with only few races (and no points). They could possibly be removed and have different table, like this

Rider Positions
Kevin Coghlan 21st in Turkey, retired in Britain
Ivan Maestro 22nd in Spain, 27th in Catalonia
Ricard Cardus 23rd in Czech Republic, injured in Portugal
