Notability
[edit]Is this accident really that notable? I strongly suggest redirecting or deleting it. – Zntrip 23:53, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- It's part of a pattern. In no small part because of years of conflict, the DRC has an aviation safety record that the ICAO calls 'an embarrassment', hence the blacklist. Craft are routinely overloaded with extra passengers and unsecured cargo. Maintenance is neglected. They are flown with expired or falsified certifications and licenses (as appears to have happened here). Then when they crash the causes are barely investigated and nothing changes. Few besides the UN bother to report on it at all. To the extent that the world forgets it happens, we are complicit. At the risk of making a point, I think we should take any excuse for notability we can find. In this instance, the death of an MP will do. LeadSongDog 02:53, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Surely, any commercial plane crash that makes headline news as this one did is notable? - Neparis 03:31, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- It resulted in a liscence revocation for an airline. That's pretty notable. Also, a commercial airline crash with fatalities is generally considered notable, per the guidlines at WP:AIRCRASH. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 15:59, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Has mulitiple, independent sources, a government deputy was killed, and resulted in a scandal. Notable. I'm removing the tag. T L Miles (talk) 20:08, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
