References

[edit]

So far, all the references come from forum postings. It would be preferable to see some real references using appropriate citation methods. I am giving this 2 weeks before I start to delete some information, which I do not doubt as not being true, but not being credible as an article on the web/Wikipedia. The forum postings in question are all actually direct copies of articles that appeared in the Edmonton Journal (there's a person that posts on those forums basically by just copying and pasting material from the Journal's site). If you'd prefer, I could change the references to the Journal articles themselves, although that would lead to the disadvantage that people couldn't actually check the references themselves unless they happen to have a copy of the Journal in question laying around. I think that would be better given that you wouldn't reference forum postings if you were writing a research paper. I think there needs to be some professionalism, even though it may hurt the disadvantaged who cannot check the references.Crazyjz 02:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, I do want to make the point that verifiability is not an abstract concept: if the references you post are ones that 99.9% of Wikipedia users have no way of actually checking, the material isn't really verifiable at all. That being said, I think I've come up with the best of both worlds - tell me what you think.
Unrelatedly, you should change your settings so that your signature provides a link to your page, unless you have some particular reason for not wanting it to. Sarcasticidealist 02:48, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now what?

[edit]

I think we shoudl add some reactions (properly cited) from the local media, and move most of the Candidate summer stuff onto the pages of those individuals. Kevlar67 03:29, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I definitely agree with the first part - there's lots of room to flesh this out, but I'm not sure about the candidate info, since most of the candidates don't have articles of their own. I think there's room to leave some candidate information in the article. Sarcasticidealist 16:44, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of candidate info

[edit]

Consensus above appears to be to continue to at least some candidate information. If you disagree, please engage here on the Talkpage. Also, keep in mind the admin-utilized template below.--Bdell555 (talk) 05:13, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some rewrite is required to better weight the article, trimming the long summaries, and expanding the missing ones, namely Ward 4. I have been spending my spare time on completing the articles for the election that is only one day away now, and I still haven't caught up. But the entire section is unreferenced, and should be deleted per WP:GRAPEVINE. 117Avenue (talk) 19:12, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
