[edit]Could some of you footy nuts please add references independent of the AFL as the season progresses? Surely, The Age mentions who won the round in it's roundup of the week or something?

Most of the newspapers I know don't pulish the weekly nominations but AFL Record does publish the nominations for the round and previous winners weekly. Is that sufficient? I think it is published by the AFL. The actual winner at the hend of the season does get published widely. BartBart 12:17, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- In the overall scheme of things, nominees aren't notable. The winners are (only footy tragics can tell you the runner up in 1973 without looking it up. People with good "general knowledge" can tell you the winner in several codes).
- AFL Record, if published by the AFL itself, is a primary source. Doesn't The Footy Show talk about the winner of Mark of the Round every week? If you told me it did - I would believe you... the reference for each round would look like:

(just fix the date) Although if they can't show any footage at all then maybe they don't cover "Mark of the Round"? Garrie 22:10, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
All right, given that nobody has provided any secondary references of commentators discussing the merits of any of the nominees - and nobody has refuted my above comment - and the season is over - I am going to remove all of the nominees. I will leave the winners of each round. But really - only the MARK OF THE YEAR really matters not the mark of round 3!Garrie 05:03, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
