Player moves
[edit]Instead of describing each transaction involving the Rangers, wouldn't it be more effective to create a table of players traded, signed, and lost to other teams? --David7581 21:58, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- The tables already exist lower in the article. I suspect that at some point, the lead area of this article should be pared down. The big signings are obviously notable, but some of the more mundane moves might not require such mention in the prose sections of the article. Resolute 22:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've been writing most of the article so far and the purpose of including every transaction in the prose has essentially been for the reason that there isn't anything else to mention in the article yet. Once the season begins and there's actual hockey to discuss, I figure I'll eliminate a lot of the less important parts and trim the off-season down to a paragraph or two (as it is in the 2006-07 article). In due time, the focus of the article will of course deal with what happens on the ice, but for now, this is all that exists to mention. QWIES 00:09, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Fair point. I just figured it seemed a little lengthy and not too important, but that's okay with me. Another idea, if you want, is maybe combine the types of movements into paragraphs, and keep it around the same length for now, keeping the specific details of the moves just to make it neater, then cut it down once the season starts. --David7581 19:01, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Done and done, good suggestion. The paragraphs are now ordered as follows: Intro, 2007 Draft, Free Agency background information, Gomez/Drury signings, Players lost, Players re-signed, then a mention of Avery/Hossa awaiting arbitration. QWIES 20:42, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe for now, should we mention Antoine Lafleur in the draft paragraph? Some consider him a good goaltending prospect, and may be worth noting. --David7581 04:54, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good, I added this as well. I also started the tidying process a little bit by removing the paragraph about Shanahan's intent to re-sign (since he's already been signed). QWIES 19:25, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Preseason
[edit]At least until it's over, should we have the preseason schedule on the page, just to show some actual on-ice activity of the team before the season starts? Of course once preseason is over, it won't matter and can just be deleted, but for now I think people might be at least somewhat interested in how the new squad is performing. --David7581 00:22, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- It can't hurt to put up the pre-season schedule, in my opinion, and include it up through the start of the regular season. I'll get to work on adding it. QWIES 18:25, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Now that the pre-season is over, I assume we should keep the results there until October 4 when the Rangers regular season starts, right? QWIES 03:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
