Incorrect Photo Caption?

[edit]

The photo captioned as Vince Young about to score the go-ahead TD seems like it is actually the 2-point conversion following the TD. Note the position of the USC defensive linemen. They're too close to the endzone for the LOS to be the eight yard line. 76.30.2.53 (talk) 04:18, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger?

[edit]

Though I suggested the merger, I'm not sure what's worthy of salvaging on the USC v. Texas, 2006 page to put on this page, since the former is so Texas-biased. -HiFiGuy 03:34, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, don't merge, dump 207.127.128.2 15:00, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trash it...All the article consists of is a box score and some Texas-biased trivia. --G71 18:26, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2006 Logo Usage

[edit]

I have inquired if it would be okay to use the official logo on this page at Wikipedia talk:Copyrights/Can I use...#2006 Rose Bowl Game Logo. All comments are appreciated. --MECUtalk 20:57, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Logo and team placement

[edit]

I think that the logos over the scoreboard should be flopped so that the logo of the team is above their side of the scoreboard. Not being critical, i would try it myself but i wouldn't be able too, it was a struggle to put this down. Thank you.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.2.127.155 (talkcontribs) 20:59, 2007 January 8 (UTC)

  • That is a very interesting point. I think it is a good suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't think it is workable. The logo is the official logo of the game. We can't alter it because then it wouldn't be the official logo anymore. We could switch the order of the teams in the sumary box, but that would also be confusing. The standard we have adopted is to have the "visiting" team on the left and the "home" team on the right. If we swap the teams in the box, then we would be inconsistent with other articles. We appreciate the suggestion though - we'll see if anyone else chimes in with an opinion. Johntex\talk 05:30, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vince Young "knee down" play

[edit]

The Yahoo article states that "the replay officials realized they had blown the call" after "they suddenly saw a replay from a different camera angle that clearly showed Young's knee was down before the quarterback pitched the ball." This indicates that the opinion that Young's knee down was shared by the replay officials and isn't specific to the article writer. The ESPN recap of the game concurs: "The quarterback was being tackled when he tossed it, and television replays showed his knee was down before the ball left his hands." 4th and 2

[edit]

The article currently reads "However, due to a slight offensive mis-execution by the Trojans, White only managed to gain slightly more than one yard..." This is extremely biased. It's not like the Texas defensive players just sat on their hands and watched Lendale White fall down after he gained a yard. The Texas defense hit White before he could get the first down and they drove him back. At the very least, USC failed on this 4th down attempt due to both "slight mis-execution" and because of a great defensive stand by Texas. I suggest something be added to reflect the role the Texas defense played in stopping White on this 4th down.

...and the longest since a 35-game win streak by Toledo ended in 1971...

[edit]

The Miami Hurricanes had a similar 34-game winning streak ended in another thrilling upset at the 2003 Fiesta Bowl: that reference is incorrect. 11achitturi (talk) 21:02, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
