Italy appear to have more points than Argentina, but they're further down the table - someone should check this out. Crobzub 22:40, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a catch-22 in the rankings, they use previous world cup results as a basis for getting in to this world cup. worse teams that have previously made it can beat out better teams that haven't. 24.237.198.91 03:23, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed one of the listed criticisms on two grounds: 1) Germany was guaranteed a seed regardless as they were the host of the tournament. Tournament hosts have historically been given seeded positiions. 2) A similar system had been used in the prior World Cups, with the only major change in this one being that only the previous 2 rather than the previous 3 World Cup results were used to determine seeding.

Regarding Italy and Argentina totals

[edit]

If you look in the pdf file from FIFA, the totals are rounded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.22.173.10 (talk) 11:36, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
