22 killed
[edit]The article says 22 people were shot. But IIRC, at least 22 people were said to be killed in the violence, with presumably many more shot. --Open4D 23:28, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Early opposition gains
[edit]Can someone supply an eternal source for this claim: "By the afternoon of the 16th of May, the opposition was halfway towards winning a majority in the national parliament with only about a third of the constituencies reporting complete results."
I think it should also be mentioned that from the start the opposition had been expected to do much better in the cities than in the countryside, and that early results were largely from urban areas. No opposition supporters I spoke with at the time expected their early lead to persist once the rural results came in.
I am not a pro-government hack and welcome honest attempts from all sides to clarify the facts. But up to now I've found most online coverage outside Ethiopia a) biased in favor of the CUD and b) poorly supported by impartial sources. This is important disputed history and what's most needed is evidence. -Jacob Eliosoff 19:39, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Well, a) there's a great deal of suspicion that the 2005 elections were stolen by the EPRDF and b) this is reflected in the sources that we have access to in writing this article. If you could point contributors to less biased sources, I for one would make use of them in improving this & related articles. -- llywrch 03:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Election results sources
[edit]Not clear how to document this, but the final election tallies are based on counting membership & representation of the 2005 Ethiopian Parliament; also, before I changed the table, I found that the numbers listed there added up to far more than 527. This information is available at http://www.ethiopar.net/English/hopre/horstrct.htm. -- llywrch 03:44, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
