[edit]I left the unit in 2000 so I am not up on 1-6's service in Iraq. I hope that someome who may be takes the time to add it to my contribution. Thanks, Pat Stanton
I was in 1-6 from '02 to '05. B Btry deployed to Macedonia, at Camp Able Sentry, in 2002 and helped in shutting that camp down. A few of us from B Btry also deployed, at the same time, to Camp Montieth as a suppliment to our FiSTers assigned to 2-2 Inf. B Btry also was sent to Normandy, France, in 2002 to serve as the honor guard and salute battery for Presidents Bush and Chirac at the Memorial Day ceremony at Normandy Cemetary. We were scheduled to go into Iraq, at the invasion, from Turkey, although that never happened, and instead 1-6 deployed from 2004-05 and was stationed at Baqubah, NE of Baghdad, where we suffered 4 or 5 KIA (sorry,I can't remember how many, but I'll check and get back) I can't speak much for the unit's actions in Iraq, I was kept on Rear-D because of a medical condition that led to my discharge which was BS, but nothing I can do about it now). The unit cased it's colors in2005 or 2006 when the 1st ID prepared to return CONUS, but that was after I left. Robert Brown B Btry/HHB, 1-6 FA --Milwaukee rdb 03:53, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
