I can not pass the article untill the Image for deleation process has come to a satisfactory conclusion, however i feel it is up to a GA Standard and will pass once that image deleation has been sorted out. Jason Rees (talk) 03:52, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- Where do the wind speeds for IMD come from? If it's from that NCDC site, I don't think they were meant to be used that way. Hurricanehink said they were in 1-minute format, but that needs to be investigated. Also, I believe the intensity scale for north Indian Ocean cyclones was modified and took effect in 1999. I don't think there is anything stronger than a 'severe cyclonic storm' in this season. Potapych (talk) 06:32, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

- This one and by classifications I mean depression, deep depression, cyclonic storm, severe cyclonic storm, and very severe cyclonic storm. Cyclonebiskit 19:54, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- That one just covers a more recent season. I saw the Operation Manual for 1999 before they took it down and it mentioned that it was implementing a new scale for that season. Look at the 1970 season article for an example of the old one (taken from old copies of India Weather Review). However, I don't think you have the data entered in there correctly. We don't know what category these storms were. I would suggest using JTWC classifications for 1998 and earlier seasons (unless there are archived copies of IWR for that season).
