I recently started a discussion at Talk:List of IIHF World Under-20 Championship medalists about whether the 1992 gold medal was won by the "Soviet Union" or by the "CIS". Since the discussion could affect the content of this page, any interested parties are invited to join the discussion there. 142.177.24.151 (talk) 00:45, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

what jersey did the champions wear?

[edit]

for some time this page indicated that the winners removed the 'CCCP' from their jerseys when the soviet union dissolved mid tournament. However this was never sourced, and no evidence has come to light to validate it. The the 'Unified' Olympic team and the Russian European U-18 team wore the traditional jersey with the cccp removed but that appears to be it, unless evidence otherwise comes to light.18abruce (talk) 15:24, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is rather conclusive, there was no jersey modification during the tournament.18abruce (talk) 00:13, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Group B standings

[edit]

Previously I had cited a source that explained Japan winning the four way tie, however I made an assumption that was flawed. If the more recent tie-breaking rules were followed (which I thought were the same) it would also reverse the finish of France and Norway. Duplacey's total hockey, Passionhockey.com, and the IIHF encyclopedia all list France as 4th, so that does not work. I am at a loss, I cannot find a rationale that puts Japan first, but also puts Norway third.18abruce (talk) 20:31, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
