  • Grabbing this one for a review. This was around the era that I got into football, and even to this day I still think of the League Cup as the Littlewoods Cup.
  • For our American friends, it'd be worthwhile removing the pipe in the lead and saying "association football" instead of just "football".
  • "while the holders of the competition Arsenal were appearing in their fourth final" worth breaking up the sentence a little, I'd suggest "of the competition, Arsenal, were appearing..."
  • "but David Preece and Ricky Hill returned to the side after a lengthy period of treatment." replaced with "but David Preece and Ricky Hill both returned to the side after lengthy periods of treatment."? As I figure they didn't share the treatment.
  • Might be worthwhile piping a link through to Heysel Stadium disaster#English club ban where you say "ban on English teams", although really it warrants a proper standalone article.
  • The Luton Town portion of Route to the final. Is it worthwhile listing the matches in the table where they were played at Filbert Street as neutral rather than at home? Also, is it worthwhile adding the locations to the tables (I typically do when I work on single matches, but I'm not sure if it's a habit of mine or if it's the standard).
  • Link Kick-off (association football) towards the start of the second paragraph of summary.
  • Other links to add - Penalty area, Direct free kick, Penalty kick, Cross (football) (you and I would take knowledge of these all for granted, but it isn't always the case)
  • "Arsenal continued to pile pressure" should that be "Arsenal continued to pile on pressure"?
  • Did Winterburn ever talk about that penalty afterwards? He couldn't have been the normal penalty taker, surely? His article seems to make an uncited claim that Arsenal were having problems with reliable penalty takers that season.
  • I can't seem to find anything creditable that gives a reason behind picking the penalty taker; one blog says: "Michael Thomas had been Arsenal’s designated penalty taker all season but for reasons unexplained, it was Winterburn – who’d never taken a penalty for Arsenal before – who collected the ball up to take the kick."
  • I'm happy with both images, and that the free use one is suitably used here.
  • (non-involved editor comment) Miyagawa when you placed this article on hold you incorrectly updated the talk page template. "onhold" should go in the |status= parameter not the |note= parameter. The status parameter still says on review. That means that that WP:GAN will not be updated correctly nor will the nom get a talk page message saying the article is on hold. - Yellow Dingo (talk) 12:09, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Miyagawa: thanks for taking the time to review, think I've addressed all your concerns. Lemonade51 (talk) 17:09, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
