[edit]I hope I don't sound unkind if I say that I don't really know where to start with this one... I very nearly put up a prod template, but it does seem to be a real event. There are so many problems, though, of which the poor English is about the least: bad choice of article title, original research, unreferenced, uncategorised, POV... I hope editors with knowledge of the event in question can help more than I can. Loganberry (Talk) 01:56, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like a challenge. I'm going to give it a go. Its a real event though. See http://www.livinginperu.com/news/2562 for details. --Dave 09:20, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Could we start with a page move? I'm Peruvian and I've never heard this event referred to as the "Football tragedy", though it might be occasionally. It is misleading anyway, something like "1987 Alianza Lima air disaster" would be much better. "Air disaster" is used for the Superga air disaster and Munich air disaster articles for crashes killing Torino F.C. and Manchester United players, so I guess it is sort of standard. The latter article is pretty well organized, and can serve as a good model for this page. Thanks for the effort, I'll try to help once I have more available time. --Gabbec 15:49, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- I quite agree. I nearly sent it to AfD, but inserted the edit tags instead. Then, the edit tags were all removed without explanation, and I reconsidered sending it to AfD. As you say, though, Loganberry, this is a real event, and with careful editing could be turned into a real article. But, yes, a challenge indeed. A page move would seem to be the first course of action. I agree with Gabbec's suggestion of "1987 Alianza Lima air disaster" as the new title, as long as this is in keeping with tradition. After that, a drastic rewrite is in order. ---Charles 18:34, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- I just ran across the article and gave it a read. I think that it provides content which could prove interesting, if it were verified. The section on the report is certainly POV and lacks context in that the article does not relate the facts of the report to common averages of hours flown, time flown at night and so on. If the report was issued by the aircraft manufacturer then it certainly has an interest in indemnifying itself and I think this should be mentioned. I may look into some of the peruvian newspaper articles from the time if they're online. Joshua Crowgey 07:20, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've done a great deal of work on the article. Still needs a lot of time, but it's going somewhere. AniRaptor2001 (talk) 07:03, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- No more issues? Sweet! AniRaptor2001 (talk) 21:02, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for improving the article, but I believe the "Investigation" section needs more inline citations to cover the assertions and allegations being made. --Itsfullofstars (talk) 01:28, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Picture
[edit]It's rather strange that the picture used in this article is not one of the aircraft involved in this accident or even one of a generic similar aircraft, but a picture of the plane involved in the 1972 Andes disaster (Uruguayan Flight 571). The caption reads "A Fokker F27, the same type involved in the accident" when, in fact, the plane in the picture was a FH227, a stretched version of the F27. Isn't there a pd picture of an F27, ideally one in Peruvian navy livery that can be used instead? Martin Hausen (talk)
Needs clarifying
[edit]What does this mean "There were rumors that player Tomasini had spent his last moments and spoken with the pilot, Villar, the only survivor;" is it that he spent his last moments speaking with the pilot or swimming or something else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Owain meurig (talk • contribs) 09:12, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
