[edit]Why after the first and second rounds do the rounds automatically go to semi final then to final? There is no mention of third or fourth rounds. Is this a mistake? I'll wait a little while for an answer before changing it. Bremen 10:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
The number one seed in the tournament is supposed to play the number four seed in the semi finals. The number two seed should play the number three seed. To satisfy the craving of the public to see Borg against his arch rivals they broke this rule and made it necessary for Borg to beat both the number two and number three seeds to win the tournament. In the event he failed and Wimbledon 1981 was the beginning of the end of his incomparable career. Shame on Wimbledon. Borg, the ultimate gentleman that he was, probably didn’t even notice what Wimbledon did to him. If he had won here that year which is more than likely, he might have delayed his retirement and given us all more joy.
