Comments
- "won the tournament in 1974" link?
- Linked. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "finalists in 1979" ditto?
- Linked. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "Surrey had previously..." probably too many run-ons here, perhaps split.
- " 194 runs off their full" prefer "from" to "off" here.
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Need to link "over" in the lead (you link "not out" so probably worth making sure you link all such "cricket jargon").
- Added an array of links. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "Somerset lost both their openers cheaply" no need to repeat "their", already covered in the previous clause.
- Removed. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "West Indian, Viv Richards dominated" comma after Richards.
- " one-day tournament" probably needs "cricket" in there.
- "bowling performance to bowl them" mildly repetitive...
- You're right, but I'm struggling for an alternative that doesn't sound forced. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- I tried one, feel free to revert. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 13:45, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Eh, that works for me. Harrias talk 14:51, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

- " a Minor Counties team " is that a "combined" minor team like the combined CU/OU team?
- Yes, clarified. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- " The group matches suffered badly from the weather; four of the ten matches" repetitive use of "matches".
- Switched the second to "games". Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Consistent capitalisation for M(m)inor C(c)ounties.
- Oops, capitalised throughout. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- " once once again" so good they did it once too often.
- That good. Trimmed. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Link "toss" (per all good Boat Race articles...!)
- Piped to Donald Trump. Sorry, I mean Toss (cricket). Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "Surrey started slowly; after the first ten overs they were seven for on" slowly?? That's an understatement!
- It was a different time! Do you know that Brian Langford once bowled his entire allocation without conceding a run? 8 overs, 8 maidens, 0 runs, 0 wickets. That was even earlier though, 1969. And on an outground, so it was probably a bit dodgy. Anyway, did you want a change here, or just a comment? Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- No, just a comment. I'm a bit of a hater of slow run rates in one-day cricket...!! The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 13:45, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

- " They only added another..." perhaps "They added just another..."
- Just trimmed "only", to avoid editorialising. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Suddenly struck me that "opener" may also class as "jargon".
- Piped on first usage (in Route to the final). Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "against Somerset's slower bowlers" probably no need to repeat Somerset.
- Replaced with "the". Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- " bowling of Garner. In all, Garner" quick repeat of Garner.
- I think it is unavoidable here. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- " Scyld Berry described" introduce Berry.
- Surely everyone knows this writing legend? No? Added clarification. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Could appropriately link "six".
- Linked both six and four to Boundary (cricket). Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- " dismissed without scoring" could use "for a duck" and link it...
- I've been told off before for using "a duck", as apparently "it isn't encyclopaedic language". That's FAC for you... Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "remaining.[8][6]" ref order.
- MOS:REF specifically states that "References need not be moved solely to maintain the chronological order of footnotes as they appear in the article.." But it's no biggie, so fixed. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Probably not worth using * for not out and linking it, keep it to prose when in the prose.
- Fair point. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "Benson and Hedges" &
- Yeah, caught four of these altogether. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- I usually use alt text for dagger and asterisk in these kinds of articles.
- The {{dagger}} template automatically adds alt text. Have switched to the {{asterisk}} template too. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Nice to see the tables are WP:ACCESS-friendly!
- Our article tends to hyphenate "no-ball"...
- I don't know why, the Laws of Cricket don't. We should probably sort that out. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Link £ and consider inflation.
- WP:£ says to "Link the first occurrence of lesser-known currencies", I don't think that applies to sterling. I have considered inflation. For some reason, it seems to apply to my shopping, but not my wage... But seriously, I've added a note summarising, how's that? Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Somerset's overall winnings don't add up for me? £9,450?
- £9,550 in fact. Changed. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- "Benson and Hedges Cup" & again.
- Caught this above.
- "by 9 wickets" nine.
- Could consider Somerset/Surrey CCC categories?
That's it for me. On hold pending this bunch. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 11:20, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- @The Rambling Man: Thanks for the review. I have responded to each point above. Harrias talk 12:06, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Happy with this, so I'm going to promote. Good work. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 17:59, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
