Women Overall Result
[edit]In the 2nd race of the season, giant-slalom on December 8th, 1977, in Val d'Isère , Annemarie Moser-Pröll finished second but she was disqualified because no legal clothing, therefore she did loose 20 points. At the end of the season you may assume that being missing those 20 points was mainly responsible for not winning the Overall World Cup. Apart from reglements about "Point deduction" which may decrease the number of captured points, there were other reasons too for Mrs. Moser-Pröll's loss. She didn't finish in four special slaloms, was disqualified in another giant slalom, couldn't finish in the "Top ten" in another two races - therefore she had 14 decisive results. Her opponent Hanni Wenzel had 16 decisive results - both could win in 6 times. If you would convert the results 1977/78 to the current guilty systems, Mrs. Wenzel would have captured 1.122 points, Mrs. Moser-Pröll 1.048 points.
- Okay, you may say - (assuming that current system is applied) 80 lost points of that disqualification had been enough to win the Overall - and Mrs. Moser-Pröll did feel unjustly treated. She did wear a heavy sweater, essentially unfitted to make a profit of time, but the regulations have no regards for such imagined sequences of events - regulations say that a racer has to wear standardized racing suits. It is the same like other regulations do: A racer mistakes by incorrectly passing a gate, maybe such a mistake will cost more time than he had done it regular; as a direct consequence of that mistake is only a disqualification. (Maybe, in other sports like swimming there are little scopes; a swimmer could be remain in the list of rankings like Aaron Peirsol in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2004 Summer Olympics.) 213.225.32.132 (talk) 19:31, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Nations Cup
[edit]Dear Sir, I suppose that Parallel at Arosa did count for the Nations Cup; I would like to suggest that you may read the German Wikipedia because in it you will find the correct points (I did compare with the Austrian newspaper "Arbeiterzeitung Vienna" from March 20th, 1978, page 8). --Skiscout (talk) 15:10, 1 February 2017 (UTC).
Downhill and Slalom Men February 11th
[edit]Downhill Race at Les Houches was scheduled for February 10th but it was postponed because bad weather conditions. The Slalom Race was scheduled for February 11th. Therefore, on February 11th, the downhill race was carried out - and in the afternoon the Slalom followed (second leg was startet at 17.45 h GT) (it was carried out at the same slope at Les Houches). Please see the "Arbeiterzeitung Vienna" from February 12th, page 13. --Skiscout (talk) 15:16, 1 February 2017 (UTC).
Ingemar Stenmark: Giant Slalom World Cup
[edit]Dear Sir, Ingemar could achieve that World Cup - it was his third one. He didn't win the season before. --Skiscout (talk) 18:39, 2 February 2017 (UTC).
