On being a by-election

[edit]

@Number 57: I noticed that you categorized this election as a by-election. I understand the reason for it since it was an election to fill up a part of the seats in between two much larger elections: the ones in 1973 and 1978. However, I think that this election is much more similar to staggered elections rather than a by-election. If I remember correctly, by-elections are meant to fill up vacancies caused by not being able to finish the set term for their positions. However, for this one, National Assembly members elected by the National Conference of Unification have a term of three years compared to the six-year term of directly elected members. The first set of indirectly elected members were elected during the 1973 election and their terms expired prior to this election. However, I would understand if this remains as a by-election for formatting/styling reasons. Migs005 (talk) 23:54, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Part of the issue is that this was an indirect election, so not sure it really fits in a chain of legislative election articles. Number 57 10:43, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense. Migs005 (talk) 12:11, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
