Orphaned references in 1973 Preakness Stakes

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 1973 Preakness Stakes's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "2010guide":

  • From 1982 Preakness Stakes: 2010 Preakness Stakes Media Guide; page 95 (page P-7 of The Preakness section).
  • From 1988 Preakness Stakes: 2010 Preakness Stakes Media Guide; page 95 (page P-7 of The Preakness section). The Maryland Jockey Club reported official Total Attendance as 88,654. This is listed as 81,282 Pimlico on-site attendance and 7,372 at Laurel on-site attendance.
  • From 1969 Preakness Stakes: 2010 Preakness Stakes Media Guide; page 73 (page P-7 of The Preakness section).
  • From 1991 Preakness Stakes: 2010 Preakness Stakes Media Guide; page 95 (page P-7 of The Preakness section). The Maryland Jockey Club reported official Total Attendance as 96,695. This is listed as 87,245 Pimlico on-site attendance and 9,450 at Laurel on-site attendance.
  • From 1990 Preakness Stakes: 2010 Preakness Stakes Media Guide; page 95 (page P-7 of The Preakness section). The Maryland Jockey Club reported official Total Attendance as 96,106. This is listed as 86,531 Pimlico on-site attendance and 9,575 at Laurel on-site attendance.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 18:39, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-race activity

[edit]
  • "was strange not having any rumors floating around about Secretariat's health." - floating around doesn't sound encyclopedic. I think circulated is better
  • Penn National is a dab link
    • Both Fixed --MTBW

Event details

[edit]
  • "with television coverage lasting approximately an hour, while radio coverage lasted twenty minutes" - reptition of lasted(ing)
  • "following being traded to San Diego by owner" - to the San Diego Chargers
    • Both FIXED --MTBW

Race summary

[edit]
  • "and crossed the line in first position," - finishing line
  • "This was the first time in the history of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes that the horses top three horses in the Derby finished in the same positions at the Preakness." - remove the first mention of "horses"
    • Both FIXED --MTBW

Analysis

[edit]
  • "Jockey Ron Turcotte won his second Preakness," - to avoid reptition with the second part of the sentence, try Jockey Ron Turcotte secured his second Preakness victory or something similar
  • "with in Hill Prince in 1950." - remove the first "in"
    • Both FIXED --MTBW

References

[edit]
  • References 11, 14, 15 and 22 are shown to have a connection issue
    • FIXED url to direct properly to ProQuest subscription page the same as the other links

Good work so far. On hold until the points have been dealt with. MWright96 (talk) 11:25, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
