Why does this article exist?
[edit]We just spent a ridiculous amount of time consolidating all of the separate pre-2000 Florida Gators football team articles into decade-season articles, with the sole exception of the "1996 Florida Gators football team" article, which is a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON. The 1971 Florida Gators football team was 4–7 (1–6 SEC), and is memorable solely for the "Florida Flop" controversy that it generated in the final game against Miami. We really do not need to again start spinning off these fragmentary season articles, with one partially completed FSU-UF game summary, and some random non-notable statistics for players who are not notable enough to merit their own WP articles. Notable material regarding the final season of Reaves, Alvarez and Durrance should be incorporated into the 1971 section of the season-decade page, "Florida Gators football, 1970–1979." Ditch the game summaries. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:20, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
