Transition from black & white to color (for U.S. prime time)
[edit]Someone thoughtfully provided information for the 1965-66 season about which shows were in B&W, and which were in color, by italicizing the names of color shows in the grid. The same thing would be very useful here, also a significant transitional period. I can provide here partial information on this. As a separate breakdown listing of which were B&W, and which were color, distinguished by new vs. ongoing, and by network, would also be useful, I have thus broken it down:
B&W, new:
- ABC: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Bewitched, Addams Family, Twelve O'Clock High
- CBS: My Living Doll, Munsters, Gomer Pyle, Gilligan's Island
- NBC: Branded, The Rogues, Man from U.N.C.L.E., Daniel Boone
B&W, ongoing:
- ABC: Combat!, McHale's Navy, Fugitive, Ozzie and Harriet, Patty Duke, Burke's Law, Donna Reed, My Three Sons, Outer Limits
- CBS: Lassie, My Favorite Martian, Ed Sullivan, Candid Camera, What's My Line?, To Tell the Truth, I've Got a Secret, Andy Griffith, Lucy Show (FILMED in color for the 2nd year), Danny Thomas, Petticoat Junction, Mr. Ed, Beverly Hillbillies, Dick Van Dyke, Perry Mason, Password, Rawhide, Gunsmoke
- NBC: Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Jack Benny Program (switched from CBS)
COLOR, new:
- ABC: Jonny Quest
- NBC: Flipper, Mr. Magoo
COLOR, ongoing (all already in color):
- ABC: Flintstones
- NBC: Walt Disney's, Bonanza, Hazel
Based on it being the first season where NBC had more than 50% in color, color shows on NBC should be greatly expanded (whether actual new shows, or ongoing shows either switching to color, or color already, with that distinction among ongoing shows also useful). Pending further revelations that any shows NOT on NBC were in color, a "listing" really only need cover NBC, with an additional mention of ABC having the ongoing Flintstones, and new Jonny Quest, and CBS's Lucy Show being FILMED in color for 2 years, but not thus aired. 108.1.68.171 (talk) 12:31, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
