Regarding the infobox at 1963 Honduran coup d'état
[edit]Hello there. I'm not dead set against using an infobox at the article but maybe we can discuss it a little to understand each other's thinking. When I look at the infobox I see almost entirely duplication of the first paragraph of the lede, plus a dubious statement about the "Cause" of the coup. I understand that the Cause field could be improved for more accuracy. But I don't understand how adding all this duplicate information at the top of the article helps anyone. Can you explain how you think it does? Also, nice to meet you, and how's the weather in Takamatsu? groupuscule (talk) 01:24, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- Groupuscule Hi. What I think the infobox should be like is something akin to that at 1963 Argentine Navy revolt, showing sides, results, losses, like that. Big substantial events like this could use summation boxes, doesn't need to duplicate all the info, as you said. Japanese weather is... long hot humid summer/nice week/long cold humid winter/nice week. Nice Week was two weeks ago... :( --Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 03:03, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
- OK I'll see what I can do. May be a good occasion to look for new sources. (If I recall correctly, most of those which I saw before were not very specific on the details of the military takeover.) I do have a smoldering concern about infoboxes that they may focus the reader's attention on certain parts of the story which give a distorted view or neglect the big picture.
- In this case I think civil-military conflict is a bigger issue than communism. And the battle is only a small part of the story, as told in the article, which I think reflects the coverage in the secondary sources.
- But since you feel strongly about it I will give it a try. I hope you made the most out of Nice Week. We had a pretty good one last week but now instead of becoming winter it's hot again. Cheers, groupuscule (talk) 16:12, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
