Another good source for the Bell Labs demo

This June 1927 article covers the Bell Labs demo in depth. According to the OED, this was also the first place that "picture element" was used in print, though I've since found it earlier. Dicklyon (talk) 16:23, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That issue also has a story on Alexanderson's 7-beam setup of 1927. It looks to me like he actually proposed digital or PCM there, too ("For distance transmission of pictures, telegraphic signals can be used, as they come in independent of signal strength, and thus are not affected by fading, according to Dr. Alexanderson.")
