Differences in scores for Albert Tingey Jr.

[edit]

There is a difference in the scores as given in "The Majors of Golf" (https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=JAtHsOzOCoUC&printsec=frontcover&hl=en#v=onepage&q=1924&f=false) and the official site https://www.theopen.com/Heritage/PreviousOpens#!/1924/Royal%20Liverpool It relates to Albert Tingey Jr., the son of Albert Tingey Sr. (he won the Belgian Open (golf) in 1928). The Majors of Golf has his scores as 82-81-82-81=326 T52 while the official site has 82-81-76-75=314 T18. This has the effect that those between 20th and 53rd have uncertainty about their position too. eg Archie Compston is T20 or T21 depending on which you use.

As to contemporary ssources, The Times has the 326 version. However The Glasgow Herald has him, frustatingly, on 322 (https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=85ZAAAAAIBAJ&sjid=M6UMAAAAIBAJ&pg=4520%2C7855757). The Sheffield Daily Telegraph also has 322 giving final rounds of 76-81. St. Andrews Citizen (a weekly I think) has, for the 5 July edition (a week after the Open finished), the 314 version. So currently I'm a bit bemused, although I'm inclined to go for the 314 version as being official. Nigej (talk) 12:19, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
